Re: Trey Amos in the portal
Had to laugh at the WBB player from TSATB. Got a MB today for her birthday. She better hit some great endorsement deals post college. The WBNA doesn’t pay that kind of money.
Just another person making my point, many of these NILs are paying beyond what most recipients probably will make after their college careers are over.
I personally am waiting on the reports to start coming in regarding failure to file/pay income taxes.
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
Before NIL/Transfer Portal era, I could understand the dual allegiance some fans in Acadiana has. But now if LSU gets a Mehki Garner or a Trey Amos from UL, I don't know how a fan like that processes that without seeing where their true allegiance lies.
What's so frustrating to me is that the access is there for a G5 more than ever in terms of participating in the expanded CFB playoffs, and yet unrestricted free agency that is NIL + Transfer Portal pushes us even farther away. Now more than ever we NEED people to sell this program to Acadiana. All of the money funneling across the basin from our regions' coffers should be fenced in. The unfounded elitism in Baton Rouge and their theft of Cajun culture in absence of their own makes it hard for me to be a fan of both schools, and I try. We have D1 postseason access in ALL sports that we sponsor with the expanded CFB playoffs. UL admin should be shouting from every major intersection that we can build something better in our own backyard without having to go East on I-10.
Academia and the campus are booming. Athletics admin is saying we're $8-$9 million down from where we need to be. Outside of a single giving day campaign, are we just in an eternal silent fundraising phase???? It's honestly hard to keep caring when it seems like there is no one caring in official capacity. If there is, we don't see it. Maybe it's not my business to know if anyone is caring as lafman said in a previous thread.

MAT should be head of RCAF fundraising! We need someone with his passion to lead the way.
Hit every business in Acadiana! If you don’t ask you will never know. All they can say is no?

I would pick one of the other co host that plays alone with MAT.
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
UL needs an RCAF Director with MAT’s relentless passion and intelligence, but who is also charismatic and diplomatic much like Nico Yantko. Do you think Trey Frazier is the right person to increase RCAF donations and membership?

Yes

I quit watching the NFL about 7 years ago. That league is nothing more than a game used to push woke social commentary. And it's increased 10 fold over those several years. No thanks.
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
The thing that bothers me is I understand we can't compete with NILs but as many athletes that we lose in the portal our FB coaching staff refuses to fill hole through the portal. We have lived the good life with a couple of great season but now we are baldwin/bustle era FB Cajuns. I read today that Tulane is projected to be in the BCS top 25. I know it's way too early but they are being talked about. So apparently they are doing something right to sustain the momentum from last year. What happened to us. I renewed my Tickets, tailgate and RCAF on sunday but it came down to the wire on doing so.

I agree.
I used to think that all we have to do now is focus on developing HS players, but this situation is more complicated than that. We have to do both. We have to provide the staff with the resources to do both. If we focus on one versus the other, we will always be at a deficit.
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
Without competitive NIL resources $$$$$$$$ we can’t compete in the portal, period.
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
We don’t have money to keep the guys we landed. I would assume we don’t have money to take those we have not.

As long as there is an NCAA limit on the number of players allowed on a P5 roster, there is zero reason a modest NIL model can't compete in the portal.
