They blinked first in the Bottom of the 7th with that errow on the short stop. Draheim would have score and we win. The irony of it all is that we could have won on an error by the short stop just as they did on an error by the center field........but for a call by the first base ump.........All the years I have been watching the Lady Cajuns play softball, home and road, I have never seen anyone miss first base. Now it happens in the SBC tournament......

We don't and never will. Running on an extra base hit you do not hit the top of the bag, you hit the side of it. At least that is how I learned to run the bases.

Sorry...I'm not blaming the loss on an umpire. I've seen both Mike in softball and Tony in baseball make appeals in prior games. You're saying they shouldn't have...and we shouldn't in the future?

You are right Frenchie ... you just have to wonder HOW an umpire can make that kind of call in such a critical situation ... you just have to wonder ...
Still a great game and a tremendous come back performance by Jordan.
No one ever said it would be easy.

So how can S.Al. say confidently, and with a straight face that she missed it?
How can a ref, who admittedly wasn't looking on a STAND UP DOUBLE, reverse his call because S.Al. pinky swore it so?
Not in a conference tournament game.
And Cajun Red, I'm not saying that they shouldn't have tried, but they shouldn't have won that appeal under the circumstances either.

Pitch her outside and she's done. For reasons, not enough bat speed. Pitch her inside and she turns on it OK..JMO

I can say, no one will win with ZERO runs.......

IMO, South Alabama had every right to appeal whether or not she touched first. BUT if the ump didn't see whether or not she touched, then he has no right to call the runner out. A player or coach cannot dictate a call to an umpire or official on something that the official did not witness. That's true in every sport.
Having said that; on a stand up double, I really doubt that Draheim missed the bag.
Re: SBC Tourney G8: South Alabama vs. Louisiana
The more I think about it...SD is a tall girl. She pretty much has to dig into the side of the bag if she wants to remain upright on her way to second. Oh well. What is the pitching strategy for FAU? I would like to see if they can get past FAU with a bullpen rotation.
