It's up to Cajun fans who go out to be informed of their establishment's TV capabilities & the TV channels their team will be broadcast on. I guarantee you, had UL been in a tight ball game, the manager would not have turned off the volume & gotten paid for the meal by myself.
I don't disagree with anything on your post, but the original post mentioned Pete's and it had nothing to do with the number of fans of each program. Cajun fans accounted for 70% of the people in the restaurant, it was just the decision of one individual disrespecting his paying customers.
Now, let me also say that it should be a no brainer for Walk-Ons to have UL on some screens when the games are televised. They paid for the coaches radio packages, hoping to draw UL fans into their establishment. So they should be prepared to have UL football, basketball, softball or baseball games on some screens when games are televised. There is no need to have fans at each others throats, it was a poor business decision.

The best way to get the people and businesses of this city behind UL is to win.
We must establish ourselves as a consistent winner. That means winning our conference and getting to bowl games. The sports bars you gentlemen mention are concerned with making money. Period. They will cater to the majority that enters their establishment. If 100 fans enter a sports bar and 75 are LSU fans and 25 are UL fans, don't expect them to put all of the TVs and sound system on the UL game. That's a bad business move for them. As fans, we are passionate about UL and our expectations of businesses are high. Businesses, especially in this economy are concerned with paying the bills. As we win, shirts will change from purple to red. Business will change their philosophy as more red shirts enter their establishments.
Winning consistently happens when you hire quality coaches and they recruit athletes that can win. I think we made a move towards that with hiring Coach Hudspeth. To change the belief system of people and businesses in the community, we have to continue to invest in the program and make Ragin' Cajun Football the hottest ticket in town.

I agree. For years, in football at least, there has been no reason for the average people in this town to pull for the Cajuns. People want to be a part of something that is associated with winning. Hopefully those days are inthe near future and things then may eventually change

Did anyone go to the new bar on the corner of Johnston st. and Jefferson?.. Forgot the name of it.. It sounds like a nice place from what I heard about the recent bash that kpel had there... Not sure If that location can make it there..

It's called Rivals, and you are right, they will need a lot of luck to be successful there.

Rivals is a really nice place. Food is good. Drink prices are reasonable. Parking is a real issue. They've also got a banquet room ideal for meetings and such.

I went to Rival's the other day, since I didn't make the KPEL birthday bash I went in a couple of days later. The waitress was nice & the place was very clean. The parking isn't as much of an issue as you might think. After 5 & on weekends they have whole parking lot by the bakery, although the signs say different it only applies to day time traffic. Didn't get food there, but the drinks were pretty good & fairly priced. This is a perfect spot for a UL takeover. It is within a couple of blocks of the campus & centrally located. UL fans complaining about not getting the respect they deserve should be all over this place. I have a feeling those guys would love to be taken over by UL crowds every Saturday, making them make special drinks in honor of the BB, FB, SB, & BB coaches & special players. You guys want your own place. There's a top candidate for you.

Rival's or Corner Bar seem to be the most accommodating. I'm selfish (or close minded), I want to be around those like me.... Anyone else want to make these two or any other our unofficial gathering spot for away games?

Just to give another report, my group watched at Dix. There were maybe four tables of people in the place, ours was by far the biggest. The sound was on and we were up on the big screen till the lsu game started. The manager did a good job of trying to keep us happy, he apologized for having to turn it off and said he would have left us on the big tv if the sound wasn't attached to it (we also got a round of shots on him).
To focus on the positive, I would say that the good news here is that we have a large group of fans that want to see our team on TV in a bar with sound like every other college. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems like Legends on Bertrand was the only place in town that delivered. I know who will get more of my biz from now on.
Now for the future.... This is gonna ____ some people off because I know that we shouldn't have to do this. There is a BWW in Bedford TX http://saintsreport.com/forums/showt...threadid=62544 since about 2008 they show up with about 100 saints fans to this BWW, severely outnumbering cowgirl fans forcing the business to give Saints fans all the TV's and the sound. I have been a couple of times and it is amazing to be in the middle of DFW surrounded by black and gold. At the end of every game someone, I guess whoever started this, announces the game time for the following week and reminds everyone to show up early to ensure that cowgirl fans cannot outnumber us. If all of us that went to Pete's, BWW, Walkons, and Dix had just showed up at one of those places wearing red and demanding our game, they would have had to humor us.
So let's make sure to mobilize on raginpagin before the next cajuns TV game
