SBC is dead last for what? If you are talking about Prestige, many would argue that the MAC could be considered last and even if the SBC is last, it is clearly obvious that the league as a whole is improving yearly. We are now constantly getting in 2+ teams into bowls each year and that is likely to continue for a while.
Being in a larger conference with better revenue sharing would be an obvious plus but we can't concern ourselves with that since that choice is out of our control. We need to bring in the best athletes, strap it up and get to 7 wins so we can go bowling and start some momentum to moving forward. _
You beat me to it. My thoughts exactly.
Re: Parrott Blog: Running thread on UL's recruiting
This year's class is a testament to how hard this staff works especially in prime recruiting season. Some of these kids require a lot of work and it is a process to stay connected and in front of these guys yearly. To get guys who other programs moved on from when we easily could have done the same is a show of dedication. Bustle and staff were able to go out and get a pretty darned good class considering the hot seat he is on and future contract questions of the entire staff.
Guys like Daniel Quave, Aaron Spikes, Bernard Smith, Le'Marcus Gibson etc.. were gotten because we stuck with the process and worked them and showed them value here rather than somewhere else. Quave entered his senior season being heavily recruited by Miss. St and Southern Miss and landed with us when they left because of potential grade issues that seem to be gone. Spikes was a guy that could have signed at a lot of different schools due to his ability but came here because we maintained a relationship with him and his coach and the situation fits him well. Gibson is a guy that could be playing safety for a big school right now and had he not gotten hurt, would likely not be here. There's a lot of talent that we have brought in that was not initially knocking down our door to come here like LSU has where they basically have to pick and choose. Our staff has to work 5 times as hard as a staff like LSU and they have a fraction of the recruiting budget and make a fraction of the pay. I applaud them and their dedication.
Re: Parrott Blog: Running thread on UL's recruiting
All of the 25 recruits i've spoken with have said that the family atmosphere had a big role in their decision, as well as the personality of the coaching staff. These guys can relate and reach through to recruits.

Well said. I couldn't be more satisfied with this group. There is no question that this is the most complete, and mabye most talented class we've had here in the Bustle era. Can't wait to see these guys in person.
Re: Parrott Blog: Running thread on UL's recruiting
1210 AM in Baton Rouge is reporting that Bates will greyshirt at LSU. It's been confirmed. :(
Oh well, I'm still really excited about who we got!
Re: Parrott Blog: Running thread on UL's recruiting
Does it really matter?? We didn't have a scholarship open for him anyway. Hope he enjoys sitting in the bleachers with mommy and daddy watching the tigers under those Saturday night lights. :)

He and Josh Johns will have great careers sitting the bench for 4 years:rolleyes:
Coulda have started for 2-3 years here, and had a chance to make names for themselves. I will never understand this...
Oh well, bring on the new recruits!

This is really a good class. I'm glad we are feeling much better about this class. Someone posted this a couple of weeks ago.
"IMO, this is a very unexciting class with the exception of a JUCO and a transfer."

Re: Parrott Blog: Running thread on UL's recruiting
Yes and No FooFoo..........There is no sure things with recruits or even with the ones we have coming in. Lot's of (Great players in Highschool) are bust in college and the other way around. Let's just hope we can have a few of these guys contribute immediately and the rest have solid careers. Thats all we can reasonably ask for. In any event it appears to be a great class. Personally, I think its the best so far(on paper). Time will tell........
