Hard to tell. Usually we don't travel very well. We are coming off of 20 years of bad football and the fan base is starting to come back with last years 9 win season and this years 8 win season. I think we will have a decent amount of fans there, but certainly not enough to say we travel well.
Welcome and congrats on the NO Bowl! Make sure your fans know to come here for any New Orleans questions. Hope you guys bring a large contingent of fans. Honestly, many of us have our doubts about how well San Diego will travel.
Anyway, good luck! We are all looking forward to having a good time and watching a good game in New Orleans.
I hope they stick with that reference.
I'm sure the fax machines are smoking in moanroe from all the notices complaining about referencing us as Louisiana. Wright Waters' phone is probably ringing off the hook.
Yes, the Q's. Wilt Chamberlain was the coach for one season. Of course Wilt was really there to play ball, but the NBA filed a lawsuit to stop him from playing that year.
Here's a positive......the late start of the Bowl game will put it longer in Prime Time on the West Coast.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have the San Diego State Aztecs represent the Mountain West Conference in this year’s game. We’re thrilled to have two teams that have never played in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl before, and we can’t wait to show them the one of a kind bowl experience that only New Orleans can deliver.”
I bet you could be more excited about this if you tried really hard. LOL yeah, we're like totally pumped to San Diego State over teams like SMU and Tulsa in our bowl. Right. Sure you are :-)
UL's Ragin’ Cajun football team had been waiting for almost three weeks, watching the ebb and flow of the end of the college football season and trying to guess who they’d be facing in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Now they know, and when all of ...
Overall Aztec fans will be very excited about this game. I hope we travel well.
Let me ask you this. What total amount of fans traveling would be considered "traveling well" to the NO Bowl.
We are thinking we will have 30-35K there, bad thing is both teams are Black and Red, so some dumb ESPN announcer will say we have nothing but RED and BLACK as both teams wear these colors............
Some other very good Aztec players you have never heard of...
-Miles Burris. A monster of a linebacker that will be playing in the NFL. Not sure if he is a NFL starter but he will be there.
-Gavin Escobar. A 6-6 tight end that can catch the ball. He is a soph and will be a NFL player. Great hands. A beast.
-Leon McFadden, a soph corner. Pro scouts love him.
-Ryan Lindley, a senior QB. Is is the "in" thing to bad mouth Ryan. Fact is he is 6-4, 230, a 4 year starter with a CANNON of an arm. He is working with ineperienced receivers and hasn't had a great year....BUT...Ryan owns almost every passing record in Aztec history at this point. And that from a school that has produced some very good QB's over time.
-I mentioned Ronnie Hillman earlier. The good news. He is NOT as good as Marshall Faulk was here at San Diego State. Now for the bad news...He is pretty darn close to being as good as Marshall Faulk....And that is damn good.
Hmmm...5,000 maybe. Over 7, probably not.
I could be surprised on this one, but I think I am right.
I hope for the sake of the Aztecs and the New Orleans Bowl that we can get 10K there.

Sittiing in the dome now and was just thinking about what our endzone will say hope its just Louisiana
I can't wait to see the Aztec fans in NOLA. Been a follower of the baseball program, especially when Tony Gwynn was hired as head coach. I just hope the fans that make the trip are ready to party.
