Believe it or not, I think Hud will have something to say about this. As a matter of fact, he has and I think he's relayed his preferences to the bowl committee that he is not real big on facing another SBC foe as that was mentioned before. Remember a couple of years ago with us and the Indy bowl? We were ____ed that Dooley and Tech did not want to play us and they got their wish being the major attraction in that game just as we are this year. I feel that WKU is worthy of a shot but the bottomline is that the bowl committee will choose a team they feel can sell tickets and bring some excitement to the game. I know that Hud mentioned he would love to play an Illinois or a bigger conference team but I don't know if we'd get our shot.
Re: How many Cajun Virgins?
I know a few people who are in no way connected to UL, but they want to see a bowl game so they are going. The New Orleans Bowl has two things going for them. They have a "hometown" team and the tickets are cheap.

We've been in the same position as WKU before, I'm not feeling a whole lot of simpathy for them right now. 1) Had they beaten Indiana State, there would be some discussion of a bowl game for the Hilltoppers right now. 2) Their fan support has been nothing to crow about, 15,310 in six home dates. At least San Diego has a reputation as a decent football program. I don't see it.

If you want to upset the least amount of fans, keep western Kentucky home. Better yet, just tell them there's a bowl game inside the stadium and they can all stay outside and tailgate. Then, flash a halftime score on the scoreboard that makes it look like they're winning, and then set the clock to zero so they can all storm onto the field like longtime fans. They won't even know the difference.

That happens when you drink too much burbon & lust after livestock.
Cajuns finally learn bowl foe today
New Orleans Bowl executive director Billy Ferrante has compared the postseason-selection process to putting together a puzzle. Sometimes it's uncertain how one team will fit until others are in place. Well, someone crashed into the table ...

I think with Houston's loss, SMU is definitely a possibility.
I think it's down to them and Temple.

SMU was my guess all along...and they're my #1 pick. I also still think a Big10 school is not out of the question...like Illinois...which has been my #2 pick from the beginning.
Re: Cajuns finally learn bowl foe today
I hope either SMU or Marshall. I want none of Tulsa as we are not ready for them at the level we are at so far.
Maybe 2 or 3 years down the road, but not this year. They are hella good. But then again, Upsets happen every day

WKU never has a beef with beef.
They sure jumped on Geauxt for homecoming though.

I'm not saying I'm sympathetic towards them but I do feel they are worthy. They are a 7-5 team and while they had a bad loss earlier in the season, teams improve and they obviously did. I realize that they still have a ways to go in regards to attendance and overall support as they need to improve both in order to make their program more marketable but I can understand their issues with other teams getting the nod over them, especially when they beat us and FIU in conference. However, I will not apologize for our invite as we've waited over 40 years for it and the players have invested a lot into this program and deserve to play in this game. I wouldn't give it up for anything, just saying.

I'm still thinking Marshall or SMU. I'm thinking that SMU may want to stay instate for a bowl game which could put Marshall on our doorstep.
Re: NO Bowl opponent picture getting (sort of) clearer
Chuck Landon with Huntington (WV) Herald-Dispatch is reporting that Marshall has accepted a bid to the Beef O'Brady Bowl to play FIU.

I'm good with either one. I'd rather not have a MAC team. I wonder if UL's expected high attendance is a good or a bad thing when possible opponents consider the NO Bowl this year?
I'm looking forward to an opponent getting announced. I hope their fans come on here to talk about the matchup.

Not that it means anything, but Yahoo! is calling Tulsa vs. UL
