Thanks for the great response. I would vote in a heartbeat to get a coach with a super reputation and name in the business, with ties to our area, in order to immediately snag some key recruits and some fan excitement and support. Recruiting is king. If our money and system can get that guy, I can't wait to hear who he is.
If it's a plug that made his "name" by hanging around large programs and great athletes, I have serious doubts about getting a wave of substantially better talent to overcome an average head coach.
I take it that in your recruiting view a guy whose reputation was built by success at a lower division of football will not get the attention of better recruits.
