It might. Just depends on what happens to the ACC. If their schools get poached I could see the Carolina and Virginia schools merging with the remnants

As the cost of transportation increases, the SBC will separate. Could see a model where there are no cross division games other than the championship game and optional non conference games. At some point, even the big boys will do the same, along with the P5 scaling back Olympic sports. The money on the top end is about to max out in a few years. Look no further than UCLA…jumping conferences and not addressing their root problem is just a temporary fix.
