Ragin' Cajuns head to CIT in Post Season Basketball

Elfrid Should be an All Conference player in the Sun Belt, possibly as soon as next year.

I think anyone who knows anything about basketball can see that after watching even once. He reminds a little of a former great Cajun PG ... Aaron Mitchell. Not as polished offensively, but smooth driving and attacking the rim.

Alvin Robertson did it while playing for the Bucks back in 1986 against the Spurs.

Lester Hudson had the only Division I quadruple-double for Tennessee-Martin in the 2007-08 season against NAIA member Central Baptist College.

Chris Paul was 3 steals away from a quadruple-double in 2009 verses the 76ers

I brought three friends to the game that ususally don't come to Cajun athletic events. I pumped up the game saying it was the first post-season game in years.....Needless to say they left very unimpressed. Going to be tough to get those guys back in the dome next season

I attended the game last night and I was impressed with the teams "hustle". We did look a little short-handed because we are. If we only make 60% of our free throws we win easily. With the two guys we lost and the seniors leaving we better recruit well before next season....................:o:

Elfrid has got to get confidence in shooting outside. Late in the second half last night when Elfrid had the ball on the 3 point line, Rice's player w/pink shoes was literally yelling to the guy defending him, "He can't shoot, he can't shoot."

i saw the same thing. they were daring him to shoot. even if you put a couple up a game, they will step out to defend it-its nature to step oout on any guard shooting a 3. that will stretch the defense a little bit and make penetrating easier. I don't know why every team doesn't zone us to death, it kills us and keeps their guys fresh

Elfrid was thrown in the fire at a very young age. He learned a lot this year. I think he knows what to work on for next year and we'll have a solid point now for the next three years.

Well you can act like everything is peaches & cream. I have only made honest evaluations which I feel very comfortable with. You can sell the cheese & koolaid to each other.

I think the only thing missing in this young man is scoring ability. He has great vision, makes lots of rebounds, steals, and is miles ahead of where he started the season with in pure ball handling, anticipation,and assit to turnover ration. His failue to be able to shoot free thows is more about emotion than ability. In other words he has not translated that from the practice floor to the game floor and that is concerning because free throwing ability is not about experience it is about ability and self control. His lack of scoring in other areas is also very troubling. He should be able to sink an open 12 footer and he should be able to dribble penetrate and pass, shoot, or go to the basket. So far I see only going to the basket which reduces his ability there, as well as with assits because they are not going to honor those other things as much without some sort of scoring ability.

BWK. U are welcome to make your assessments of the team. And Elfrid. My point of disagreement with you is when you insinuated that Raymone and JJ acted out due to Elfrids role.

However, Raymone had issues before Elfrid came and again before they practiced together.

I stand by my prediction that he will be an all conference player before he leaves. But his game like our team has many holes in it. He will never be a shooter, but he needs to be better from the line

If EP can improve his FT % to around 75% he might average 15ppg next season, he can create and get to the free throw line better than anyone we have on the roster right now. He just desperately needs to improve on his free throw shooting and be more willing to stop and pop for mid range jumpers.

We also need a 2 guard bad! We lack and outside threat and it makes scoring inside much more difficult.

I saw that we went to the dribble drive early and had some really good looks, but couldn't finish in the paint. I wish that we would play an even more uptempo style of ball much like Iona does or like Marty Fletcher used to play. Hard defense and transition basketball would be very exciting and a little easier to recruit for.

We will see what this staff is made of during this offseason, we may sign up to 7 new players, IMO all 7 need to be as good or better than EP if we want to compete with UNT or WKU.

I'm not acting like "everything is peaches & cream" or selling "cheese & koolaid" and not trying to change your mind. I'm offering an explanation to my opinion for people who don't know much about Payton or base everything off a few games and nothing else.

As for feeling comfortable, I'll stick with my opinion - based on years of covering and watching basketball as well as input from experienced college and pro coaches and scouts - over your thoughts on the matter. And if I'm right about Payton, you won't see me on here beating my chest hoping people will pat me on the back. Thanks!

I saw somethg in the game last night that was easy for me to spot. I haven't heard anyone else bring it up, but it is having a huge effect on the Cajuns offense. I believe it is causing them not to be able to make good shots & I know it's causing a ton of their TOs. This isn't Peyton's fault, but it's making him & the rest of the team look bad.

Peyton appears to me to be a south paw. Yet Marlin has the offense rotating in a couterclock wise fashion. This is giving the trailers on defense inside out leverage on the guys he is attempting to get the ball to in the majority of their half court sets. This was the direct cause of at least half their TOs last night. I also believe it is a root cause for why none of these guys can make a set up jumper off a pass with any consistency. So to say that Peyton & anyone else will be successful in this scheme as this offense is at the present won't happen. It can be remedied, but the half court rotation they are using now will not work. If I can see it I guarantee any D-1 coach worth his salt can see it & attack it.

That's fine & I welcome your rebuttals. But to say I am too closed minded to admit when I have made a poor evaluation is ludicrous & undermines your own credibility. I have proof in what I have reported on the difference in the level of play by Broadway. I also admitted to doubting that Carter could produce at this
Level to the extent he has shown me he will. I did this even though I never posted anything to the contrary. Now I am posting on what are becoming very solids observations.

The Cajuns couldn't make a catch-and-shoot jumper this season because they didn't have anybody who could consistently hit a jumper period. Most of the rest of what you wrote is gibberish.

All he writes is gibberish. He has admitted before last night game he only saw them play twice. A lot of people may disagree with me but I think this is going to be good team next year and possibly a great team the year after. I am excited about the next 3 years.

I asked a simple question & made observations based on what I believe to be fact. If the X & O talk is that far above your mental threshhold then maybe you would be better served to remain silent & allow those who understand something about the goings on of the game opined. Or did you not realize after watching Peyton all year that he is most likely left handed?
