Re: BB Final: Louisiana 7, Tech 10
Problem is we had Martinez last year who was inconsistent and wild. He leaves us and now he has 65k and only 15 walks. He throws 95mph. Have to ask yourself what the hell happened last year with him

Exactly. High 80's is still uncommon in high school.

Who knows. Could be a million things.

Wasn’t asking you specifically. I was asking a broad question about what could be going on in our world of recruiting.

Will be interesting to see how Sawyer Pruitt develops when he gets here. He is currently sitting low to mid 90s with his fastball.

Correct, average fastball velocity of a varsity pitcher is 75-85. Our larger schools will have usually have 3 guys that can get up into high 80s. We have 2 but they don't throw strikes consistently & will go JUCO to develop. As far as people saying the Cajuns are only signing guys that throw mid 80s, look at the 2026 commits.
RHP Sawyer Pruitt (low 90s)
LHP Bryce Wilson (low 90s)
RHP Sam Mitchell (mid 90s).

And he's a strike thrower. Against St Amant yesterday:
6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 7 Ks, 78 pitches

I’m really hoping we can hold on to these guys.

We have the top 3 arms in the state according to 2D Sports. I have not had a chance to see Cade Durbin pitch but I'm more than familiar with his father. He comes from a good pedigree for sure.

Hopefully Sawyer makes it through the draft.

He has four pitches. Gunner only wanted him to use two. They hated each other. It's more of a pamphlet than a book, really.
