Gavin Schrader's two-run homer in the fourth inning began a seven-run outburst for No. 21-ranked Troy and Houston Markham's two-run single broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth in an 8-5 win over Louisiana in a Sun Belt Conference series on Saturday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

He needs a fastball to the shoulder or hip. The fact it hasn't been done yet tells all you need to know.

He'll beat that frat boy's ass, unless said frat boy has buddies jump in for him.

In my opinion you have to strategize recruiting in creative ways bc we can’t compete money wise. The recruits who just want to go to the highest bidder, we are out on those guys. But even before NIL we were out on the vast majority of those guys.
We almost have to market the program, stadium fanbase and experience to hopefully capture those talented guys who look beyond the money. They are out there. I mean we didn’t pay Debarge or Morgan more than they were offered elsewhere by big programs, but we were able to give them something which satisfied them bc they liked it here and wanted to stay. Whereas a guy like Martinez was looking for the biggest payday he could get regardless of where. In the NIL era we still got a guy like LP last year. He could have easily pitched in the SEC for any program and been a force.
And then you have to identify potential. Guys not highly sought after that you believe you can develop. Can be a big gamble. It’s easy to identify big talent that every other recruiter sees. We have to identify those not so obvious recruits.
It’s not much different than the past. We have to do more with less. There are ways. We just start behind the 8 ball, but we always have.

It’s one thing to bring talent in. It’s another entirely to develop it. Look at Martinez. At UL: .64 walks per inning. At ASU: .27. Flip it to the hitting side and look at the averages of our veteran hitters. Serious problems with this coaching staff.

Be prepared to be done with collegiate athletics then as NIL is definitely a factor in the diamond sports today. Looking at all the softball players we lost from last year makes it obvious
