I said it before, I have the solution to this problem, but the NCAA does not want the problem to go away.
Here is my ultimate solution to the transfer portal and NIL deals.
#1--Every college athlete in America receives 1 free transfer, meaning they can transfer once from college to college without having to sit out a year.
#2--For each transfer after #1, they have to sit out a year (go back to the old system after the first transfer).
#3--exception to above rule would be in extreme situations (NMSU basketball this year as well as St Francis shutting down the program, I would also review what to do if a coach leaves a program and possibly add another transfer year, but that would need to be discussed and voted on by the AD's in the country.)
#4--NIL stays in effect, but you cap the number that 1 NIL deal can be. For instance Gordon McKiernan can only give a kid X amount for the deal he has with him per year. This won't stop the craziness that is in the NIL deals, but it will stop Multi Millionaires from throwing tons of money at a kid. Now their will always be ways around this, for instance one single millionaire could have multiple LLC's and each LLC could cap the kid with an NIL deal, but for the most part it would limit where and what can be given, kind of like a salary cap in pro sports. That cap can be a moving target annually, but each year it would need to be determined ahead of time.
Obviously this would not stop all of the nonsense but it would cut down on it quite a bit.
Great ideas.

So hold a spot for him to decide and pass on another kid who wants to be in the program?

So, maybe he's just in the portal to see what NIL interest he would get but may very well be looking to stay? Thoughts?
Not even supposed to talk NIL until after signing scholarship but we know thats now how it works out.

And we all know that's BS. Just look at Napier.
Re: Themus The PG / Transfer Portal
Exactly. No one is committing without knowing the NIL deal.
Re: Themus The PG / Transfer Portal
This may be a silly question but can coaches directly set up NIL deals for players or do they have to go through back channels to set up collectives?
