I do agree it was a different land scape all together with the portal and all. My point is every time billy went on an in house visit Des was his right hand man right there with him. It has been said mike was responsible for recruiting over 50% of that roster. The point being he had an existing relationship with everyone of those recruits and a better opportunity to retain them.
Can you name any commitments that de-committed and went to Florida? I bet you it’s not more than 2 or 3.
Plus that would be last years class that signed in 2022. This discussion is about this years class 2023 where Mike and Gumbie from Nech have both been in place for a complete year of recruiting with summer prospect camps and so forth. So the whole conversation about how they took over is really a moot point for this conversation. The tech coach took over a much worst situation than mike and according to some recruiting services has past him in recruiting.

I’m not sure this is a fact if we are talking about HS kids. If you are including the portal, you may be correct.

Does it matter? Portal guys win football games too. The question is who’s building the better team through recruiting, not where they came from. Kids from the portal are considered recruits. You have to look at the classes as a whole not broken down by portal vs high school.

……..BUT……the question that really needs to be answered……ARE THE KIDS THAT ARE ON OUR PRESENT ROSTER BETTER THAN PORTALS WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN??? ……..and are they better than the portals that ltur got??? Do all see my point and agree? We had some good players that went against Houston in the Bowl game….new faces that played well!

No, it doesn’t matter. I just have a hard time viewing a transfer in the same light as a kid out of HS. But your point is taken.
Re: In State Football Recruiting.
WR Daniel Blood Mizzou
DE Dylan Carpenter LSU
LB Justin Horne Tx Tech
OL Ethan Fields Ole Miss
DE Mathew Fobbs-White Tulane
Those are guys who decommitted and went elsewhere. When have we ever out recruited P5’s on a consistent basis?
This is a very good class and we will continue to improve as our OL gets healthy again.

Often when you see that happened the recruits take an early offer at a UL to make sure they have a spot. Then someone falls off the big schools board because they committed else where so the bigger school drops down on their board in the pecking order that they wanted the kid. So the top of our board was probably the lower end of the P5 board in those cases.
Re: In State Football Recruiting.
I’m not sure what changed but as of today I saw on Twitter that 247 has Louisiana as the 3rd highest recruiting class in the SBC.
1) stAte
2) App
3) Louisiana
Re: In State Football Recruiting.
We’ll know more this fall, but 6-6 floor was set last year.
Re: In State Football Recruiting.
According to this list we signed 2 of the top 10 recruits in the Sun Belt.

To your point, Refineryville had a few edge/LBs transfer out so they made an offer to Dylan Carpenter to fill some of that void.
