Football Season: Reasons to be negative.

As much as I like your enthusiasm, it just aint so. First, I'm assuming you are having us win all games outside of the Ole Miss and Texas A&M game. If so, we've never gone through a conference season undefeated, in fact we've never won an outright conference title in Hudspeth's tenure. We always have those 1 or 2 ____ the bed games that hinder us from doing this. Couple that with the fact that this is not his most talented team and this is arguably one of the most questionable QB's we've had here and I just don't see that happening. I'd be happy with 7-5 but think something along the lines of 5-7 maybe 6-6 is our ceiling.

Having never done something before is the not a valid point, has no bearing on what can be done. I don't think we will go undefeated in conference but has nothing to do with not doing it before. First time for everything.

I disagree! One's performance in the past is a partial projection on what type of results you can expect.It doesn't mean a person isn't capable of performing better, but haven't achieved something certainly leaves reasonable doubt. Now every team is different and many dynamics are in play when projecting results, none of us know the upside of this group of athletes considering the influx of new talent.The two wildcards in reference to this years team are Hall and Davis. If both perform above expectations, we could have a good season.

If we get to 7-0 in conference, how we play in game 8 will determine if we go 8-0...not the fact that we have never been 8-0...has absolutely no effect on the outcome of that 8th game. So saying we won't do something simply because we never did it before isn't a valid point. We had never been to back to back bowls..or 3...or 4. Hudspeth and his staffs have accomplished a lot of never befores here but that gets lost on people because of their disdain for the man.

The disdain comes from NCAA violations, Florida chicken out, and three
bad years. Add to that the musical chairs on defensive and offensive coordinators, add the attritions in quality players. It all adds up.

When your biggest asset as a coach is hype you'd better be successful. The flaws in your style are exposed quickly.

Not arguing for it or against it or saying people aren't justified in their disdain, or that I don't have some myself but some are blinded by it.... but the man and his staff have accomplished several things on and off the field that have never been done before at this university. To say something can't be done simply because it hasn't been done before is silly IMO and isn't a valid reason for why something can't be done. It's the sunbelt, anyone, including us, is quite capable of running the table in conference.

You do realize part of the equation in setting lines for Vegas books in team sports is having won somewhere or against someone before.

Don't know if it's valid, but they do use it. It's "a" factor, not "the only " factor.

Odds and possible aren't the same thing. Vegas sometimes loses on those, which means what? Somebody did something they never did before. Adding to that point with regards to Hud and Vegas, pretty sure we had never won a road conference game where we were dogs until Hud beat FIU his first year.

Odds are how we bet. We decide if it's time to go against the odds. The people who finalize the odds are the bettors. The bookies hardly ever Lose.

Right now we've never done it, we've got fewer proven starters returning I'm confident we won't sweep the SBC. If we had other good assets I might go against the historical facts.

I don't think we will either but doesn't mean we can't. You are trying to bring in a whole different conversation. Coastal Carolina had never won a national championship before and the odds were against them but hey you already know how that story ended and if I were a betting man I'd wager every single year that we would go undefeated in sun belt before betting on CCU to win a national title.

All I can say, if I hear the words "turnover battle" used once this year I will f'ing lose it!

No. I see us dropping the first game of the season as the offense has some growing pains with the new QB and OC. After that, its gang busters.

We'll drop one road game, unfortunately.
