I guess they thought that was too great a risk to take. Note, I am not stating agreement with the decision here. I am simply explaining the logic behind it. In fact, I think they are greatly underestimating how big of a negative financial impact will result from this decision. I also agree with Turbine that changing coaches would not necessarily result in guys leaving. _
If the people who hired Rogers and handled this decision are one in the same, the root problem isn't the coaches but the administrators.
It's becoming apparent that athletics is going to have to take a nosedive before Dr. Savoie cleans house and appoints an athletic director who can develop a normal athletic department.
This time, UL just may have finally bit off more than it can chew.

My email has been sent and I hope more people do the same.

So I guess that Lee will be the coach of UL's basketball team FOREVER???? If they're worried about players transferring, then how will they EVER change coaches? I guess the only way we will ever get a different coach is if Lee resigns. If the players have that much loyalty to coach Lee, then why did they not play for him?

No, we can change next year. If we have a bad APR this year, the 4 year rolling average will put us in the red APR-wise, thus being our 2nd violation and possibly keeping any UL sport out of postseason.
Supposedly

Because he didn't hold them accountable for anything, and he let them play street ball, which is what kids want to do. Those players want to win, yes; but they don't want to put in the work that it takes to be a winner. Another reflection of the coach.
Re: 2009 Breaking News: Lee and Rogers will be back
Glass half full response:
- 4 of 5 starters from last game of season return next year
- We were showing signs of an inside game in last few games of season
- Solid set of bench players w/ McCoy, Johnson, Dison, Bloom, and Wallace
- Shouldn't have the discipline problems with next year's team
- A commit from a 6'10" kid who can help at 4/5 slot
- A set of kids who want to get rid of the taste of this year's poor showing
Add in to this the hope that D. Walker made it quite clear to Coach Lee that he only got a one year reprieve and the prayer that team doesn't have the health problems they had this year (see, I avoided the word that begins with "i" and ends with "y") and we have justification to expect much better performance in the upcoming season.

Re: 2009 Breaking News: Lee and Rogers will be back
I've sent many of emails with nothing being accomplished. It's almost like the email sent back is an automated one....go figure.
I don't think I'll be attending the basketball games either next year, so there's another $150 the university loses......IT WILL ADD UP!
The only way to get fans back in the stands is to offer free beer and topless cheerleaders.......woooh wait a minute that sounds like Desperados...disregard
