This is not the fault of the conference title game, it's the fault of Houston for not showing up in this game. USM took it seriously and are gonna win a conference title.
Re: Students who put down a bowl deposit..
We went at noon on the Tuesday after the announcement party, made a reservation for 22 and got the call last Monday, picked up Tuesday.

Do you really honestly believe that Houston didn't take this game seriously?

That's what confused me. Houston will lose this game, so there will be no CUSA in BCS which means they can fill all their bowls correct?
Re: CUSA Championship game.
USM 42 UH 21 a little over 3 minutes to go.
Re: NO Bowl opponent picture getting (sort of) clearer
I think there may be 6 CUSA bowl tie-ins.
Re: CUSA Championship game.
Houston just ____ed away a mega pay day for them and CUSA. Congrats to USM.....no gimme win, they earned it.
Re: CUSA Championship game.
It brings into question the risk versus reward of conference championship games. There have been numerous instances that conference championships have screwed the conference. They have almost no potential whatsoever of improving the conference postseason situation but have proven to cost conferences over and over again.

One result of this is that we now likely get a CUSA team as a New Orleans Bowl opponent.

Ironic, wanting more money, by getting a televised championship game, and then losing money because of the result.
I thought UH was a decent team, but not #6. Their schedule was suspect, and they didn't beat any team that was really good. That can be said about many teams, I know. It's college football, without a playoff.

If you eliminate Houston & S. Miss as possibilites you are left with Tulsa, SMU, and Marshall as possibilites.

It is a lost mega payday for ALL non-AQ conferences. If a non-AQ team gets a BCS bowl, then EVERY non-AQ conference gets roughly double the normal payoff.
Not only did CUSA forfeit a big payday this afternoon with Houston's loss, but the Sun Belt did also . . . unless Boise gets chosen for a BCS bowl.
Go Boise State!

Very true. We'll have to see how the selection process works out from here on out.
Re: CUSA Championship game.

I believe it's a 50/50 of USM being pretty decent and Houston being overrated. I feel like championship games are notorious for the top rated team to slack off and the opponent stepping up. They are simply not good for the conference when you look at the current postseason format. I know why split division conferences have them, but they're problematic.
Re: NO Bowl opponent picture getting (sort of) clearer
Sounds like that CUSA title game skulldragging that Houston received today assured us of a MAC opponent.
Best thing we can do is blow whatever MAC team it is clear off of the field.

If it is a MAC team, I hope its Temple.
FIU Accepts bid to Beef O'Brady's Bowl
Re: FIU Accepts bid to Beef O'Brady's Bowl
Are they taking one of the CUSA spots, if so, then Marshell will be in New Orleans?
