upcoming spring game week
:) I am interested in the activities surrounding the spring game next week. Is picture day the same as it is in August with all the players getting their pictures made or what? What are the pre-game activities prior to the cajun bowl and is there a dinner afterwards for the boys. Any information would be helpful
Louisiana's offense impressive in practice

LAFAYETTE -- The University of Louisiana had a short Wednesday practice in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage at Cajun Field, according to a news release from the school.
The scrimmage will be the Cajuns second in eight days and is is set to start at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday's light practice lasted 90 minutes.
"The offense did well," Louisiana running backs coach Brian Jenkins said. "The offensive line played hard and really opened things up for the running backs. Everyone did a good job in the play-action pass. The line was solid, the running backs picked up the blitz and (quarterback) Jerry Babb delivered the ball. He (Babb) was impressive."
Practice ended with a short goal-line scrimmage. Louisiana ran 17 goal-line plays (inside 6 yards), but did not score as many times as Jenkins said that they should have.
Jenkins also complimented Louisiana's young group of tailbacks that includes second-year backs Dwight Lindon and Chester Johnson and two newcomers, Ross Rix and Josh Harrison. Rix is a former Christian Life Academy player.

The source of the story

Advocate

Cajuns continue preparing for Saturday

LAFAYETTE — Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns enjoyed a short practice on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday’s scrimmage at Cajun Field.
The scrimmage, Louisiana’s second in eight days, is set to start at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday’s light practice went for just 10 periods and 90 minutes. The first five periods were individual position drills on the practice field.
The team moved to Cajun Field for the final five periods of more competitive exercises.
“The offense did well,” said Cajuns running backs coach Brian Jenkins. “The offensive line played hard and really opened things up for the running backs.”
Two pass skill drills started the work at Cajun Field. The second pass skill drill was held in the red zone. While the rest of the team worked on pass skill, the offensive and defensive lines worked against one another in pass rush situations.

The first of two team versus team drills featured the offense running play-action pass against the defense.
“Everyone did a good job in the play-action pass,” Jenkins added. “The line was solid, the running backs picked up the blitz and Jerry Babb delivered the ball. He [Babb] was impressive.”
Practice ended with a short goal line scrimmage.
“The running backs were average,” said Jenkins. “We were stopped a couple of times on the goal line. When the rest of the offense does their job and it’s one-on-one against a linebacker or a safety, the RB’s need to find a way to get it done.”
All four backs are serious contenders for playing time.
Second-year backs Dwight Lindon and Chester Johnson are feeling pressure from newcomers Ross Rix and Josh Harrison.
“Dwight is the leader,’’ Jenkins said. “He is a hard worker and a hard runner. Chester is elusive and does a good job receiving. Rix is the power back who runs forward and breaks tackles. Harrison is quick. ‘’
He runs from point A to point B, changing gears along the way.”

Rain Forces Cajuns Inside

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns were rained in on Monday, as the team practiced inside at Bourgeois Hall on Louisiana's campus.
The Cajuns spent approximately one hour and forty minutes on the hardwood, working over ten periods.
“It was a good work day inside,” said Cajuns defensive line coach Shawn Quinn. “We had a chance to catch-up and go over what are going to run for Wednesday’s scrimmage.”
Louisiana walked through mostly individual drills for the first half of practice. The team then spent twenty minutes on pass skel work, including two minute drills and goal line pass sets.
In the last half hour, the Cajuns worked on kicking formations in between offense versus defense in run play action and two minute drills.
“It’s been a good spring to get back to basics that we need know in order to play in an eight-man front defense,” added Quinn. “The players have a much better understanding of the defense than they did last year.”
On Wednesday, Louisiana will scrimmage at Cajun Field beginning at 4pm. The team will wrap-up spring ball on Saturday with the annual Spring Game at noon.

Scrimmage Prepares Cajun Team

LOUISIANA La. - Louisiana scrimmaged at Cajun Field on Wednesday, marking the team’s third to last practice of the spring.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will practice at 4 p.m. Friday, making up last Saturday’s scheduled practice which was rained out.
Coach Rickey Bustle decided to practice lightly on Friday in order to better prepare his team for Saturday’s Cajun Bowl spring game.
The contest is set for noon at Cajun Field.
Wednesday’s scrimmage was scripted to 15 different series, which resulted in 72 plays, and the Cajuns scored early and often.

The game started with two series each for the first team offense versus the second team defense and the second team offense versus the first team defense.
Dwight Lindon ran untouched up the middle for a 64-yard touchdown on just the sixth play of the scrimmage.
The final four series of the first half put the ball near midfield and only 60 seconds on the clock. The offense needed to get at least three points and were given only one timeout.
Both offenses scored points in one drive during the two-minute drill.
The first team offense was stopped on downs, but rebounded on its second drive to put Sean Comiskey in field goal range. Comiskey looked sharp in nailing a 43-yard field goal.
The second team offense hit big on its first set. Matt Lane connected with Eric Bartel in the left slot on a 5-yard curl. Bartel made two quick moves, and then raced 60 yards for a touchdown.
Lane was picked off by Tyler Norman on the second drive for the second team offense, and Norman returned the ball up the sideline for a 74-yard touchdown.
“There were some good individual things,” Bustle said of the scrimmage. “I thought the backs made some good tough runs.
“It’s the first time we ran the two-minute drill live. I’m glad we worked on it because it’s those situations that sometimes make the difference in winning a game.”
The second half featured the first and second teams against one another with the ball placed at the 20-yard line.
Comiskey kicked a 37-yard field goal to complete the first drive.
Lane accounted for his second score on a nice 21-yard touchdown run. He scrambled up the middle, using a pump-fake to freeze Norman en route to the score.
The running backs accounted for three straight scores to end the scrimmage.
Adrian Aucoin and Ross Rix each scored on 1-yard touchdown runs in between a 14-yard scamper by Josh Harrison.
“Although we made some good plays, I don’t think it was a good scrimmage overall,” Bustle said.. “We were inconsistent on both sides. The offense took too many penalties and the defense gave up long plays. “Sometimes it just looked sloppy.”
