Re: Morning After Pill: Cajuns and Golden Eagles
Reed Green Coliseum reminds me a lot of Fant-Ewing in Monroe in the way it's constructed. Round (kinda like Blackham except bigger) with the farthest seats away from the court near the center.
A renovation to Blackham. No. You'd have to build an annex because the actual structure is just too small. A 6500 seat newbie is the route to go but we won't see either one in my lifetime.
Best SBC atmosphere since the days of WKU. It was great to broadcast a game like that.
Southern Miss has a long and storied history with their fan base. They can suck at football and still get 25000 in their stadium. Basketball doesn't have as much tradition but you can see what happens when they are good. And, in baseball, they announce the attendance that we announce, but their seats are all full, unlike at Russo.
Now, THAT'S a fan base. One that cares.
Re: Morning After Pill: Cajuns and Golden Eagles
Those who experienced Blackham can tell you when it rains, the east side takes in water. As much as I miss Blackham, it’s a liability and a dump.
AFA the product on the court, rarely does any team run the season or a conference season unblemished. The world isn’t coming to an end.

To back up that claim, I just looked at their website to see how ticket sales were going for the Monroe game tonight. They have practically the whole arena available minus the student section. Now I’m sure they will have some walk ups but the point remains. Their fans respond to playing us. Whether it’s in football basketball or baseball. It’s time that ours do the same. They should be our primary rival in ALL SPORTS going forward.
USM is pushing these games as a rivalry, in football the interest is that they have gone full in on the new coach and the alum's are putting up the dollars to back him, but he will have to really produce or they are going to turn on him quickly. In basketball this is the first time in decades that they feel they have a relevant team which has pumped up the average to around 3000 outside of our game.

We can continue to make excuses as to why we can't facilitate a great crowd in an old building or we can bite the bullet and do what makes most sense for our fan base. I prefer the atmosphere that I saw last Thursday over comforts of an empty palace.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

. . . fans won’t come to Blackham any more than they will come to the Cajundome . . . sorry to enlighten . . .

. . . really does not matter . . . spending additional money for the same crowd on an old outdated building is just not advisable and besides will never happen . . .

If they won on a consistent basis year over year, people would go to the CD, Blackham, or a barnyard to see them play. The circle jerk this coach has given the fans for the past 13 years has everyone predicting doom & gloom & representing like it. By the way, did they fly to USM, or take the old grey hound bus?
Re: Morning After Pill: Cajuns and Golden Eagles
. . . it was obvious they took the bus with the wrong color tires . . . then continued on to Troy in that same sumbietch . . .
