No major conference opponent has ever gotten us to or above 40k.
An FCS school got us to 40k.
The top 5 attendances were because of the opponent.
The rest of the top attendances were because our program was hot. We have proven that we can get close to 40k regardless of the opponent if we are winning.
If we raise the success of this program to the next level like we all hope Coach Napier will, a winning streak then will be met with next level attendance as well, regardless of what conference we are in at the moment.
To doubt this is to doubt the facts.
Sorry, I see Alabama. Alabama and Tex A&M were two largest until the Southern Game. They are both from major conferences and would have no problem putting 40K in Cajun Field if we have a good product to offer.

Southern, Grambling and McNeese would put tons of fans in the seats for the first game. A good product on the field would just build on that. Go get it!!!!!
Re: Napier throws down attendance challenge...

We'll see if that holds true on 9/1. Look forward to welcoming the Tigers.

We already play those programs on rotation. They are fine when we play an FCS, but I have no interest in revisiting the SLC days otherwise. The future for UL and other G5 programs is cross conference scheduling, or scheduling alliances with top programs. That is why it's important we turn football around.

Totally agree.
Having said that, what would you think about having the state FCS schools on rotation as a Spring Scrimmage Event every year at Cajun Field?
I think it would be a money maker and a heck of a lot of fun. It's the kind of thing that could become quite the event.

It was allowed years ago, but the NCAA will not change it now.

So, scrimmages are not allowed by the NCAA?
Didn't know that.

Scrimmages against other football programs. That is why it's not done in the fall as well.

This year the day consists of plenty of things going on
UL Alumni flag football game, b4 the UL spring game.
RCAF crawfish boil before/during the spring game.
UL spring game
Concert for free. Don’t remember where it is. Keith Frank was the artist.
UL Softball double header
UL Baseball vs Little Rock
TONS of events going on that day!!!! Get your butts to UL sports complex for a FULL DAY of events!
Unfortunately, I likely have to work and cannot attend. Stupid project at work going live that weekend, and I probably cannot go. I’ll beg my boss over the next few days.
