This is where I see him excelling as well...A "3-point threat" as a sixth man! For me to consider someone like Mouton as a starter, he would need to have other heightened intangibles...such as rebounding, defending, and the ability to assist others in scoring! If he continues to develop those aspects of his overall game, at that point he "may" become a viable starter...Mouton would than be able to give solid contributions while on the court when his shot is not falling. If not, he will always be reduced to coming off the bench to give a player with more effective basketball skills a break. :<--:

This is true indeed....However, if my memory serves me correct, Mouton was thrust into a playing role because of our severe lack of team depth. Despite being young, Mouton had a commanding level of understanding regarding the game of basketball, as well as an impressive ability to quickly grasp the coaches stressed philosophies. In any event, we even need him more than ever now for his team leadership abilities...he is our seasoned veteran! Mouton packs all the Cayenne Pepper for the Cajuns! :<--:

No his Freshmen year he barely played at all. He came in for mop up time.
In 2003-2004 which was his freshmen year he played 4.5 min. per game

I agree with you, replacing these three with more talent would be ideal. But a lot can happen in the offseason. As a previous poster mentioned, Mouton is showing some potential beyond the arc as of late. Hart rebounds well, takes care of the ball, and shoots a high% - but he needs to work on penetrating to the basket and creating some shots or drawing fouls.
Turner does not appear to do anything well; not rebounds, shooting, FT, defense, and on top of that he has been suspended from games for behavior.

I think Coach Lee goes after high school guys first but last year when thoughs high schoolers decided to go else where he was forced to go after the JUCO guys. I think Coach Lee has shown by signing Damon Forrest and LaRyan Gary that he will go after the high school guys first which I like a lot.
I was very dissappointed at the start of the season to see we had no freshmen on the team. That is not a good situatuation for any decent Div I program. Looks like Coach Lee is trying to correct that as you say. We'll see.

The problem was the first few games the team was very limited in players because several players weren't eligible until mid term. We only had 7 players to play including Mouton and James. They had to play. The first game was at Georgia Tech on ESPN2. That is why we couldn't redshirt Mouton and James. Frankly, I think Coach Lee should of redshirted Mouton last year.

I think Cajun Fever has figured this one out correctly...

Two more to add to the list...
G - Brandon Dison 6'5 170lbs
http://pelicanpreps.rivals.com/viewp...2&pr_key=30714
http://pelicanpreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=504255
F - Jonathan Leopaul 6'5 210lbs
http://pelicanpreps.rivals.com/viewp...2&pr_key=47435
http://www.hometeamsonline.com/baske...&playerID=4271
Leopaul seems undersized for his position but his rebounding #'s are eye catching. I can take an undersized power forward if he plays with the intensity of another undersized power forward we had (Brian Hamilton)
