But you weren't. And I suppose you actually probably knew that all along. _
No, I don't think I was out of line. This thread was just pure frustration with the entire program. I am tired of players being treated like kids because they are "student-athletes"! They are adults just like the rest of us, and they can handle fans yelling at them when they screw up and get embarrased.

So as in investor in the athletic department, you have every right to be frustrated. But do you have a right to yell that at a student athlete during the game? No. And that has nothing to do with "treating these players like pee wee players." _
Why does everyone keep talking about the "right" voice one's opinion? First you had no "right" to complain if you didn't contribute to RCAF. Now investing in the athletic doesn't give you the "right" to yell. You're right. It doesn't. The first amendment gives people that right, no matter how absurd or irrelevant their opinion may be. Like I said earlier, I don't yell at the players directly either, but I really don't care all that much that it does happen.

You're "right", my use of the word "right" was probably incorrect. Obviously, everyone has the right to do whatever they want.
And I seriously don't have a problem with yelling at the players. Its the "I'm paying your scholarship so you shouldn't be sucking" angle I'm trying to avoid here.

I'll admit I have never felt the need to yell, "I'm paying for your tuition. Catch the damn ball."

That being said, I really don't understand why yelling at players is such a sensitive issue. I don't make it a habit of yelling at any particular players, but I really don't have a problem with the people that do. The players ae big boys. They can handle themselves. _
There is not much else I can say other then some people have a WWF mentality and its low class behavior. These are armateurs , there is no excuse to scream at athletes. If you don't understand that, then we have different standards of support and behavior.

Yes, we have different standards T. I'm sure everyone is happy that when we are down by 30+, we have starters on the sideline smiling and chatting like they are happy with their performance.

The ends does'nt justify the means, you are better then that! Think about it tonight and the example you set for your kid today. I know you care and you want to win.

I really try to not say anything negative in regards to the players, but I'm on the fence with the scholarship issue. The reason is this, I've always said, I don't expect the players to win every game, but I do hope that they understand that they are receiving a quality education in exchange for their effort (And I said effort, as long as a player tries, I'm okay with them). Frankly, the players shouldn't be playing for me, you, or even the coaches, they should be playing for their education because there are thousands of kids who would love to have the opportunity to play football and receive a college education in exchange for it. I didn't hear him say what he said to the player or his exchange with the players mother, but there is some seriousness as to the fact that players need to understand what they are actually receiving in exchange for their services.

I guess we do. Usually, when I'm at the games, I'm upset that we are bending over yet again not about what is or isn't being said to the players.
