There are a lot of games left to be played and any of a number of things can happen, but if all of you will look at the teams currently in the top 20 rpi, ask yourself, How many of these teams can the Cajuns realistically pass to get into the top 16? The remainder of the Cajun schedule is conducive to SOS and Adjusted RPI ranking improvement, as they have games against teams currently in Quad 1 (6), Quad 2 (6), Quad 3 (4), and Quad 4 (6). It's going to be a long climb to get to where you want them to be, but, it's baseball, stranger things have happened.
Yeah. We might need another 16 game win streak coupled with 2 conf championships

and even then, the committee may say "we don't host"

Irrelevant. It is about your resume ... not the conference resume.
Also, as far as Conference RPI ranking is concerned, there is a chasm between the #4 conference and the Top 3 ... especially the Top 2. Meanwhile, 4 -> 7 is close. There are a number of host worthy resumes in the Top 2.

I agree with all of your post and stand by what I said about theoretically running the table in the afore layed out scenario.
Its not going to happen and it makes dreaming irrelevant, with an aside of midweek matchups being the additional cavaet.

How can we not host?
Strength of schedule. Deggs pulled a Marty Fletcher and scheduled too many SWAC games.

I'm pretty sure the SWAC variable was known. Need less of this and more high RPI road games
