BYU has a smallish but national captive audience with financial support from their global church.....Complete with their own TV network. If anyone can survive as an indy....it would be BYU

We wouldn’t have to have everything BYU had, but we would have to replace the exposure that comes with the SBC tv deal. That would mean we develop our own streaming capacity and/or TV deal and our own Bowl Tie-ins.
I believe the streaming part was in the initial consultant’s recommendation done years ago. It would require a considerable investment.
The Bowl Tie-in would either have to be a secondary deal with NOLA or a Bowl we create in Lafayette like Boise has with the Humanitarian.
Team A (already in P5) has a $65M budget ($30 of which is from the P5 conf media deal)
Team B (a G5) has a budget of $38M ($2 of which is from the G5 media deal)
Why is the narrative that Team B needs about $30 mill more to “move up” to P5,
rather than: if they swapped places B would be better than A, what has A done to deserve to stay?

Anyone has the media rights contact numbers for each G5 conference?
Turbine, I've always been intrigued by what being a major Independent could do for our brand, status and revenue. Would you come up with a makeshift schedule for UL as an Indy with a mix of say 6 P5 schools, 5 G5 schools and 1 FCS school and what kind of revenue we could generate from that? With a 41,000+ stadium, we should be able to attract 2 P5 schools, 3 G5 schools and 1 FCS school for 6 home games.
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns can be developed into a national brand. The Big 12 said it looks at brand and geography for potential members. We have the geography. We created an immediate brand awareness with our win over Iowa State. A couple of P5 wins a year would do it for us. Winning the SBC will not move the needle much and get us a bowl game vs another G5 school that finished 3rd in CUSA. And what does $2 M revenue do when P5s are getting $100M? How much more can we generate as an Indy?
We will always be an attractive member to a G5 conference. How do we step up to the big boys?
Realizing it is probably not feasible nor something shared by most on this board, just thought it would be fun to play with this since realignment has now reared it's head again and we have some time before football starts up again. Besides, has anyone really done the comparative analytics on this option?
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
No P5 is coming to play at independent UL. We would play a home and home with UMASS, Sam Houston and be lucky to get a few Sunbelt teams to come here. Thanks for the laugh. Fact is UL is lucky to be in the Sunbelt at the present time. We are in a good spot.
