It can happen, but not overnight.
Up till now UL has only marketed to Lafayette. Not Acadiana.

It can happen if we get an SEC west or perennial power to come (1% chance of happening). No one else could get us 50k or even 40k. We do not have the following and never will as long as we are in a SBC/CUSA type conference. As has been said here before, we need to make our Stadium smaller not larger. 25-30k should be the size of our stadium. Less seats and more concourses with food, drink and TV’s. Young people don’t want to sit and watch a 4 hour football game against Georgia whoever, they want to socialize. That is why they stay outside. As a football also ran UL needs to embrace the trends and be the first to do it. I like the idea of $20 for kids 13 and under. It gets you a ticket and unlimited pizza and soft drinks. I would do something similar with UL students but throw in heavily discounted beer in a student only pavilion.
Hiring some digital marketing consultants is not going to get the butts from the tailgate area to the stadium.

I hate to say it but a good percentage of that number are LSU fans

41k, Southern, 2009
38k, TAMU, 1996
36k, Southern, 2014
36k, Bama, 1990
33k, McNeese, 2007
32k, North Texas, 2011
30k, Arkansas State, 1976
30k, New Mexico State, 2013
No major conference opponent has ever gotten us to or above 40k.
An FCS school got us to 40k.
The top 5 attendances were because of the opponent.
The rest of the top attendances were because our program was hot. We have proven that we can get close to 40k regardless of the opponent if we are winning.
If we raise the success of this program to the next level like we all hope Coach Napier will, a winning streak then will be met with next level attendance as well, regardless of what conference we are in at the moment.
To doubt this is to doubt the facts.

After looking at this list I think it is near impossible for us to get 50k unless we played LSU. College football is changing. Less people want to buy a ticket and go to the game. It is all about socializing now. We need to bring the party inside. Sure, no one will be watching but they are not watching anyway.

Today, sure, lsubr would be the only way to get 50k. Maybe Notre Dame too.
Now, going forward, I agree that the stadium needs to be more geared toward the social scene. I believe the stadium renovation is going to address this area. If we want to grow the program to a 40k+ attendance avg with some 50k games sprinkled here and there, the stadium must be renovated first.
Before the end zone project, a large crowd was not a pleasant situation in terms of space and facilities.

Sorry, I see Alabama. Alabama and Tex A&M were two largest until the Southern Game. They are both from major conferences and would have no problem putting 40K in Cajun Field if we have a good product to offer.

Southern, Grambling and McNeese would put tons of fans in the seats for the first game. A good product on the field would just build on that. Go get it!!!!!
