The reason the NFCA is proposing the change in rules is exactly because the top teams honor commitments. When you see a verbal commitment from a player like this, it's because they were offered a scholarship by the school. No, they can't sign the papers right then as it's not allowed. Yes, the amount they were offered may change prior to them signing their papers. Yes, other top coaches tend to honor those commitments and not poach. Read the articles I linked.

"Louisiana is one of the top softball programs in the country,” said Camp. Now it’s one of the top softball programs in the country with a head start on their 2021 recruiting class in a big way with the commitment from the Williams sisters.(took out the Lafayette, damn that bothers me)
