Dr. A called N Shex and told him to come on back to Lafayette... we got our guy! I ask you, young man... was the right choice made? Were the two coaches comparable in their accomplishments?? You have one guy who was a successful coach vs one guy who had been demoted at LSU to a glorified water boy...
Im sure there were very valid reasons why we chose Baldwin...
You may go back to sleep now....
Re: The -NeverEnding- Jerry Baldwin Saga
Multiple folks have told me raymond had a large say in numerous coaching hires, why? No idea. Makes no sense but then again why would numerous people who don't really know each other just toss that out there, again no idea? And for what it's worth three folks who told me that hate him and the other two like him, so some balance I suppose.

The rumor was that Cleo Fields endorsed and campaigned for her as a favor and he had alot of pull at that time.....

I can tell you one thing we didn't hear at the time. No one told UL we made a good choice. No one. I recall a rumor that we received $250k for hiring a black coach. Another group at the time was convinced it was done to appease the NCAA. Another was that the AD thought a black HC would recruit some of the better black athletes we weren't getting. Regardless, he's suing because of race. He was hired because of his race. He wasn't even close to being the best candidate available. This entire saga is pathetic. It's pathetic of Jerry. It's pathetic for UL, the state of Louisiana, and black people that are truly affected negatively because of race.
His case is predicated on not being supported due to his race. The ship that sank as a result of this supposed "lack of support" contained everyone at UL. And it kept football under water for years to come. I'd like to know who sinks their own ship to spite the deck instructor because he's the wrong color. Any judge that doesn't throw this out, is a pathetic man of justice.

Lets not forget some of the shenanigans that were allowed in the locker room. I seem to remember a couple of boys getting beat up pretty bad by thugs on the team... no discipline handed down.
