We can make more hay with a renovated old stadium.
You could very well be right but honestly no one here really knows the answer to that question. I've talked to people who do this for a living and will have input into this matter and even they don't know for certain. Thus the reason it is being contemplated.

Until the university figures out a way to get people who either choose to stay in the parking lot during games or stay home to watch the school 50 miles a way play, you could build it...and they won’t come. Oh... and you have to win... a lot.
I don’t like the analogy, but “lipstick on a pig”. Gotta keep working on the pig. Maybe the pig becomes the bull.
There are only two ways to fill the stadium in my opinion on a consistent basis. 1. Play the premier teams at their stadium and beat them. People will come to watch the team that just beat Alabama, Florida, etc..... when we play our next home game against anybody. And 2. Bring in the Alabama's of this world and beat them at home.
It's not how many wins you get in a season that will put butts in the seats, it's the quality of those wins that will. Going 12-0 against Sunbelt teams will not cause a large enough increase in ticket holders to justify renovating or building a new stadium.
Now it's a lot easier said than done, but it can be done. I'm tired of playing "money" games. I want the Cajuns to start winning those money games. I'm hoping Coach Napier is the coach to get us there.

Agreed!! We never really tried in money games. It was like we were there to collect a check. People like Troy, App St., GS, even freaking ULM have won some of there money games, but we get pummeled like 0-52. Louisiana needs to show some fight and start to win these games.
If we do have to build a brand new stadium. The one in the picture with Cajun Field is called the Allianz Stadion. It is a stadium located in Vienna Austria. Capacity 28k, 53 million Euro's or 71 million U.S dollars, built in 2016. We probably could raise the seating to 35k without adding to much cost. All chair back seats, and It’s made out of Concrete

But could we just demo the current upper deck, build a new one with a new PB that is much lower, and suites along the east and west sides.....and also include a canopy like the one in your pic above....for the $60-75 million that is currently projected for the renovation? That would keep the cap @40-45K

Thats' my point....seems like we already a lot of what that pic has. Of course, this would not address the structural and code issues of the lower bowls.
