Re: Is Bob Marlin's seat even starting to warm up?
I'll fully admit we are not as good this year as we hoped. I don't expect us to make the big dance.
But I don't call for a coach's head simply on that basis.
What still floors me is the disdain you have for these so-called pay-to-play tournaments. What do you think the New Orleans Bowl is, fellas?

McNeese State
New Orleans
Appalachian State (Home and Away)
Georgia Southern (home and Away)
Georgia State
South Alabama
Troy (Home and Away)
Texas State
UT Arlington
ULM
Arkansas State
*According to those schools these were exhibition games making our record 13-13.
If the regular season counts for anything a coach with a 13-13 record with a team that has the player of the year/first round NBA draft choice gets an "F" for his lack of success.
So now if we go on a winning streak of three games in a poor conference tournament some of you will want to raise that grade from "F" to "A" because he will make post season play. Some of you will get excited if we get into the same tournament as last year WHERE WE PAY THEM TO ALLOW US TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT.
It's almost time to turn in our final grades for Bob Marlin this season. Unless he wins the Sunbelt Tournament my grade will be an "F". If he wins the whole tournament and does not win a first round game in the NCAA he can get no higher than a "D".
Pretty sure not all three were exhibition games to us, only two.
Re: Is Bob Marlin's seat even starting to warm up?
If he wins the conference tournament, he still gets an F from me for not getting the team ready to play in the regular season.

The New Orleans Bowl is a reward for placing at a certain level in our conference. It must be EARNED. Making the NCAA tournament must be earned just like a bowl game. Advancing in the NCAA tournament must be earned JUST LIKE A BOWL GAME. Taking a bad team to a crappy tournament and paying them to allow us to play in the tournament is not earned..... IT'S PAID FOR!!!

Everybody wants to win.
Precisely. I'm just not convinced that "not winning as much as critics want" equates to "bad coaching." There are a host of factors that play into this. You can coach a kid until you are blue in the face, but if they don't execute, I can't point at the coach and say, "your fault." He's the coach, not the player. It's not as simple as "good coach --> winning."

You still have to be invited to play. Diminish it all you want, it's post-season play.
If it's "a crappy tournament," then anything short of a bowl game involving ranked teams is a crappy bowl.
I take the view that any honors that your team can bring to your school are good, even if they are not the ones you originally were hoping for.
