Re: CUSA Bowl Eligible teams
It is pretty clear now that we will not be playing a CUSA Opponent.

Projections for what they are worth are Temple, Illinois, & W Michigan.
Temple is projected in two sites. Illinois is projected by both guys at ESPN.
I know this means nothing because we still have no clue, but everyone agrees that a CUSA team will not be in the N.O. Bowl.

Just as someone reiterated the rules this year... there was no difference in a 6 win bowl eligible team and 7 win team. Even though the NO Bowl had "made it clear to UL" that they would take us this year (once the SBC champion clearly had a bowl)... it is very very cool that we had 8 wins in our pocket at the time of the invite.
I am like others in that I would like... from the likely bowl eligible team scenarios... to end up with a "non-red" Big East team. Those programs are beatable, might travel decently to NO, and would look good on our football resume.

It's going to be painful to watch Cincy beat up on WKU but I am happy for them in making a bowl game
Re: Who Will We Play . . . Who Will Sit at Home
I'm hoping we play Temple if we end up playing a MAC school.
Temple drew over 28,000 fans per game in their 7 home games this season, and they have only been to 3 bowl games in their history, the last being in 2009. I'm thinking they might bring a crowd to New Orleans for the game.

That's not official yet, is it??
Re: Who Will We Play . . . Who Will Sit at Home
Hawaii and UCLA are not bowl eligible yet. Both teams are 6 and 6 but each have a another game to play. IF either lose they would be 6 and 7 and would have to have special permission to be in a bowl from the NCAA.
Also Eastern Michigan is not bowl eligible because to two wins over 1-AA teams.
Mr Gatadotcom, please update your list!
Re: Who Will We Play . . . Who Will Sit at Home
Didn't LA Tech get invited to a bowl? Just asking b/c you don't have a bowl by their name.

Re: Who Will We Play . . . Who Will Sit at Home
Here are my thoughts and best case senario for the Belt and the Cajuns.
The winner of Pitt/Cuse is in a bowl, so that makes 71 bowl eligible teams. UConn will lose to Cincy, USF will lose to WVA, UCLA will get crushed by Oregon and have to petition for a bowl game, if they even want to after losing 50-0 last week and possibly worse this week and Hawaii loses to BYU. This means you will only have at most 72 bowl eligible teams, of those one would be UCLA.
If this is the case I think that FIU gets in, and UCLA and WKU are left out. I would love to see all 4 Belt teams play in a bowl this year, I just dont think it will happen.
If the above happens all 4 are deserved of a bowl.
The belt gets better and better every year.
And to think the most recognizable team in the Belt (Troy) is left at home with a losing record. If they turn it around next year, who knows.
