Cajuns got in with 47 RPI over Kent State at 46.
Big shout out to Ball State for that. Kent swept Ball State in the final regular season weekend. And then Ball State turned around and beat Kent TWICE in the MAC tourney, knocking them out of the conference tourney and you have to think that’s what kept them out of the NCAA tourney…and put the Cajuns in.
Finally folks are beginning to clue in about how bad of a measurement system that is the RPI. It was time to replace it when it was first put in place.

Meanwhile ... Arizona State was the first team left out ... followed by Kansas State, Kent State, and UC Irvine. So, I applaud the selection committee for seeing through the UC Irvine resume. Neither D1 Baseball nor Baseball America clued into this (let's see if they figure it out in the post-analysis). In fact, every projection I saw had UC Irvine in the field.

Exactly what I had laid out as the reason they should not be included. The 18-12 record vs. the Top 100 was just an excuse for prognosticators to select them to the field ... but on deeper inspection was fool's gold.Quote:
