Hit every business in Acadiana! If you don’t ask you will never know. All they can say is no?
I would pick one of the other co host that plays alone with MAT.

Re: Trey Amos in the portal
UL needs an RCAF Director with MAT’s relentless passion and intelligence, but who is also charismatic and diplomatic much like Nico Yantko. Do you think Trey Frazier is the right person to increase RCAF donations and membership?

I quit watching the NFL about 7 years ago. That league is nothing more than a game used to push woke social commentary. And it's increased 10 fold over those several years. No thanks.

Re: Trey Amos in the portal
The thing that bothers me is I understand we can't compete with NILs but as many athletes that we lose in the portal our FB coaching staff refuses to fill hole through the portal. We have lived the good life with a couple of great season but now we are baldwin/bustle era FB Cajuns. I read today that Tulane is projected to be in the BCS top 25. I know it's way too early but they are being talked about. So apparently they are doing something right to sustain the momentum from last year. What happened to us. I renewed my Tickets, tailgate and RCAF on sunday but it came down to the wire on doing so.

I agree.
I used to think that all we have to do now is focus on developing HS players, but this situation is more complicated than that. We have to do both. We have to provide the staff with the resources to do both. If we focus on one versus the other, we will always be at a deficit.

Re: Trey Amos in the portal
Without competitive NIL resources $$$$$$$$ we can’t compete in the portal, period.
-
Re: Trey Amos in the portal
We don’t have money to keep the guys we landed. I would assume we don’t have money to take those we have not.

As long as there is an NCAA limit on the number of players allowed on a P5 roster, there is zero reason a modest NIL model can't compete in the portal.

1) We are no where near Baldwin era anything.
2) The BCS has been gone for a LOOONG time.
3) Tulane had one pop season and in their market, the media has staying power. They have a long way to go to sustain success.

Obviously, we will not be getting into NIL bidding wars for Portal guys. That would be looking at the Portal all wrong. We will be looking for value. We will be looking for the guys being forced to the portal by their spot being given to a NIL seeking guy.
Those players with some quality, now with a chip on their shoulders, are out there. We can get some of those guys, and should.

Funny thing that not many people know, I actually was in talks with RCAF late last year to fundraise on both academic and athletic sides. Long story short, they were never going to give me (or anyone else) the autonomy, leverage and/or tools to get the job done properly. It's all held together with duct tape right now guys.

Right. Don't need to get in a bidding war, there are only so many slots available at schools who are in bidding wars.
"Meaning" there are a lot of athletes with great upside who will need a place to play regardless of pay.
Louisiana just needs to be proactive in scouting them out.
At least now you don't have to travel cross country to watch them play in high school.

"to fundraise on both academic and athletic sides"
Thats the whole problem right there. For those two things to reach their fullest potential, the need to be completely separate from each other.

Also per Maggard, Brandon Domingue and David Schexnayder are responsible for fund raising and both will be visible in the community.

All you say is correct, but he is over the RCAF.

My bad on BCS I meant College Playoff and call it what you want but they are being talked about which means they will definitely get recruits over us we are probably being compared to McNeese. Where college football has evolved today and where we are I feel it very compatible to the bustle/baldwin years just count the fans in the stands. Thats the point no matter what state you see our program in we MISSED THE BOAT. It's depressing how do you contribute money to this crap. I feel like our coach is in hiding and is a bull headed fool for not using the portal. Not every kid goes in the portal for NIL money some want the opportunity to play ball.

I get it now. You want to trade our best players for the players they don’t want anymore.
Yes those nobody else wants to pay for either.
I get it.

There are positions dedicated to both. Or at least there will be.

Coach will need to eventually utilize portal to stay competitive. I don't like the path college football has moved towards but it is the hand we have been dealt.

Fritz was 31-43 at Tulane before last year and 2-10 the year before, what boat did we miss? Looks like we are way ahead of that wave to me. People do not realize just how close Napier's 13-1 and Mikes 6-7 teams were to both being 9/10 win teams.

But at the end of the day, they weren’t close.
6-6 and building up h/s kids is fools gold. Soon as they develop, they’re bought and gone.

They were very close and Napier had the advantage of everybody returning after a free covid year. Desormeaux had the first real year of portal and NIL yet both Teams were a handful of plays away from 9-10 wins. The 6th and 7th year players obviously had the intangibles you gain from Playing together for 4 years and last years team didn’t

I don't think you get it, at least not yet.
The given is that Louisiana is losing players it elevated.
The question is how is Louisiana going to replace them?
Do you only replace them with unknown high-school players that very few wanted, or do you replace them with formerly highly sought after players who found themselves riding the bench and just need a chance to redeem themselves?
