some things to think about as the recovery begins
There are dozens of schools that will be closed tomorrow.
DOTD Closures UPDATED AT 4:45 p.m. Effective immediately, the following road closures and high water notifications are in place due to heavy rains. The roads will be reopened as soon as conditions improve.
Want to bet? "Pretty" trumps common sense with quite a few of those folks.

Been flooded a few times in my youth, must praise my parents. Remembered the lessons they taught us growing up on the Teche. Am very blessed we only got skimmed in the non ceramic tile parts of our home and went smooth as possible. Prayers to all.
Grew up on Teche as well. Funniest memory was not flood related. In '73 it snowed enough to cover neighborhood. Bunch of us kids went to build a snowman. Ended up with a base about 4-5'. Got too cold and we rolled it in to the bayou for the Teche's first "iceberg"
Interstate 10 Westbound will be diverted onto I-49 North, US-190 West, US-165 South to I-10 West
Thankfully, us at JP Oil are on the third floor. (We learned that from being on the first floor in 1993 when the building flooded last time). Lofton and others weren't as lucky. Water is out of the building now and Tolson is scrubbing the first floor as we speak. Should be able to go to work by tomorrow.
I know the majority of you are looking at the Acadiana area. I'm in BR, and it's jacked up over here. One UL alum's house is flooded. I'm lucky. My house is dry. A lot of friends and coworkers are flooded. So far, it appears everyone I know is safe. That's the important thing. But the water damage is unimaginable.
Probably will be the most damage ever in the state for a non-named storm system. In Lafayette we have already surpassed the average yearly rainfall amount with 4 1/2 months to go.
I'm thankful to be dry but know so many who haven't been as fortunate.
Are there any closures of I-10 east of Lafayette. I have a friend coming in from Birmingham, Al. and he was asking me for the best route to come home. I told him that I-12 is still closed but he could stay on I-10 through New Orleans. But I am not sure of any part of I-10 being closed. Anyone know?
