Southern Indoor Football League Commissioner Dan J. Blum announced Wednesday that he has fined Acadiana Mudbugs coach John Fourcade an undisclosed amount and issued an official reprimand for publicly criticizing game officials.
Fourcade's comments appeared in Tuesday's Daily Advertiser following the Mudbugs' 50-40 loss to the Austin Turfcats.
"I am completely confident there will not be a repeat occurrence," Blum said. "The SIFL now considers this issue closed."

In other SIFL news, Houma Conquerers owner Franklin Thomas was also fined an undisclosed amount and issued an official reprimand for misleading the media regarding the Conquerors' game with the Louisiana Bayou Bulls.
Thomas told Houma Today that he had "argued" with league officials to count Houma's 66-0 win in the standings. The Bayou Bulls were a replacement for the North Texas Crunch, who could not make the trip due to transportation issues.
"The game was always scheduled to count in the standings, as were the statistics and that was explained in the recap posted on
www.southernifl.com early Sunday morning," said SIFL Director of Communications Dan Ryan. "The game will not affect playoff seedings. We have never deviated from this plan. We even reviewed this in our weekly conference call Tuesday (June 30) afternoon, a call that Franklin Thomas did not participate in."

Anthony Parks caught two touchdown passes -- one each from Samuel and Bartik as the Mudbugs (6-4) took a 14-0 halftime lead.
Kendrick Cheneau threw three touchdown passes for the Hurricanes, now 1-7. Joe Townsend caught two of Cheneau's touchdowns, while Jarrod Fuller caught the other.

Southern Indoor Football League President Thom Hager said the league assumed ownership of the Conquerors at midnight Tuesday.
The takeover from Slidell-based Conquest Sports, run by Franklin Thomas and wife Lenora Thomas, came after the organization failed to pay team debts before Tuesday’s midnight deadline, Hager said.

Conquerors vs Mudbugs meet in Houma

<table bgcolor=#eaeaea> <td> <font color=#000000> <blockquote> <p align=justify>
HOUMA — Amid an ownership change this week and uncertainty about the fate of their season, the Houma Conquerors will end their inaugural regular season with a game tonight in Houma against the Acadiana Mudbugs, the Southern Indoor Football League announced after a conference call on Friday.
The SIFL secured ownership of the franchise as of midnight Tuesday, when then-owner Franklin Thomas did not successfully get the team out of default status by paying bills the team owes, including league dues, membership fees and player salaries.
SIFL President Thom Hager said the decision was made to keep the game at 7 tonight at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center for the sake of the Conquerors’ loyal fans.
“There was lots of wisdom shared among the ownership group on the conference call,” Hager said. “We realized the very best thing we could do was have the game played in Houma. It wouldn’t have been good for the fans otherwise.”

Hager said the Louisiana Sports and Entertainment Group, the marketing firm for the Conquerors, wanted to do whatever was necessary to ensure the game would be played despite the numerous distractions that arose in the past week.
Travis Carrell, one leader of the Louisiana Sports and Entertainment Group, said the verdict was a huge benefit for the Conquerors players as well.
“These boys are ready to come out and play their tails off,” Carrell said. “They are focused and just want to play the game and play for the people.”
Thomas said in an interview with The Courier and Daily Comet that he had until July 24 to get the team out of default, 30 days after he received notice.
Hager confirmed, however, that a provision in Thomas’ contract said he had 15 days to “get right with the default,” and that deadline was Tuesday.
Hager said he has spoken directly only to Thomas’ attorney, and he said both sides were trying fervently to reach an agreement.
“(Thomas’ attorney) saw what the league was trying to do, and there have been no disparaging remarks about anybody,” Hager said. “We would give Franklin the benefit of the doubt to get this right. Legal counsel is all over this, and we feel sure we’ll have a good outcome.”
The Conquerors (2-8) have a chance to clinch the No. 4 seed in the SIFL playoffs with a win against Acadiana (6-4). They also have to hope the Texas Hurricanes (1-8) lose to the Austin Turfcats (8-2) tonight.
The Conquerors lost to the Mudbugs twice this season by scores of 31-23 and 35-33.
Interim head coach C.J. Maiden said the team has attempted to block out the off-the-field issues in preparation for the final game, and he said he senses a crucial energy among his players.
“We have enough obstacles just trying to win the game,” Maiden said. “Getting in the playoffs would be a big thing for the community. Starting off the way we started off, for the team to make the playoffs would be like a new day.”

Conquerors defeat Mudbugs

HOUMA — It’s been an unlikely week for the Houma Conquerors. With their team taken over by the Southern Indoor Football League, at one point it was unlikely Saturday’s game would even take place.
So it seems fitting that in an unlikely victory over the Acadiana Mudbugs, the game would be saved by an unlikely hero, kicker Mike Stropolo, who was 0-4 on field goals, and missed an extra point to boot.
And even more unlikely, with Austin’s 60-28 win over Texas, the Conquerors, at 3-8, are in the SIFL playoffs.

"Chandler Roberson had three rushing touchdowns."
The Mudbugs should learn their players names. When he played at UL he was Chancellor Roberson. I really don't think he changed his name.
SIFL Looking to a Bright Future
Quote:
<blockquote> <p align=justify>
On July 27, the Southern Indoor Football League concluded their first season in existence with the Louisiana Swashbucklers winning their third championship in a row as a franchise.
After a trying season as SIFL president, Thom Hager discussed what challenges the league faced and the new things coming in 2010.
“The first observation I have is that it was a rougher, tougher, more intense season that I thought it was going to be,” Hager said on the inaugural season of the SIFL. “It was more difficult to launch a league by myself than I thought it was going to be.”
