This might be the worst staff I’ve witnessed as a Cajuns fan, and it’s the same story every damn night. Free pass after free pass. Is it the system? Did we miss evaluate an entire roster full of guys in recruiting? How can you trust the evaluation capabilities of a staff who looked at this bunch and thought pitching would be the strength of the team?
Might be not enough age separation, along with not having a D1 coaching background.

I am not sure this coaching staff is the answer. We talked a good game, but that's about it. This is not a very good team, doubt if we finish .500 at this point.

Cade Arrambide and Jared Jones each homered in a nine-run, first-inning and No. 8-ranked LSU added eight runs late to claim a 17-4 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Tuesday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

Martinez is a great pitcher. He's got a 12.8 K/9 at Arizona State, and has cut his walk rate by over half.
It's only year 2, but so far it definitely looks like Gunner Leger is not some savant developer of pitching prospects.

I’m thinking our athletic budget situation also lends itself to hiring someone like Gunner as the pitching coach. We can’t exactly afford our pick of the litter. So you bring in a guy like Gunner, who while young and inexperienced, was also an All American and whose dad has been a respectable college coach. You take the chance, and hope it pays off big till a peer program hires him as their head coach.
Re: BB Final: UL 4, LSU 17
Our current staff has recruiting experience from pearl river, SLU and Nicholas combined. That’s it, maybe Talbot and Wells could recruit a little better than they got credit for.
Re: BB Final: UL 4, LSU 17
To answer why Hermann started on the mound. The staff has done this many times. Their theory is that it's his bullpen day so he's basically getting his normal work in but doing it with live at bats.

Looking pretty bad for spring sports this year.

I understand the thought process but bullpen days don’t include stress pitches. Every single pitch last night was a stress pitch for Herrmann. Let’s just call it what it is. Deggs wanted to throw his 1B to win the game.

I would normally agree but a guy who is battling injury/inflamation and is so important to the weekend, I rest him midweek.
