If we continue to recruit well we will be successful on the field. But we do need Des to get out and build some more community support similar to Hud.
I agree. This will be a huge statement year for the young Coach out of Catholic New Iberia. Win big and bring that momentum into recruiting, will set his future up nicely.

. . . through the thousands of posts here by posters who were not a fan of the hire, I have yet to see a suggestion of another coach we should have hired WHICH WE COULD AFFORD . . .

We could have afforded a bunch of coaches. We have also proven that success is rewarded here.
Des was who we hired and I’m certain he will make better in game decisions this season over last. We will win 8+ and I think 10 is doable.

. . . yet another post and no coaches name . . .

Why would I revisit the hiring process? Des is gonna win here. Hopefully he wins big and has a tenure the length of Marlin’s with much better results.

. . . I am not rehashing anything . . . just making a factual observation of why CMD is our coach . . . and for the record, AGAIN, I believe he was and is the best hire available to lead Louisiana as the HFC . . .

I was a fan of Jay Johnson at the time. He was an offensive coordinator who has called games as an OC. He was working for a defensive minded guy who was a Nick Saban disciple. He knows the area and the high school coaches already.
Fast forward a couple of years later I am excited of what Mike's future can be here. This year is HUGE for him.

I agree. I liked the hire of Mike personally, but as we know, many questioned that hire and many are still taking a wait and see approach. I think if the Cajuns have a good year (8 wins or more) it will have a very positive impact on recruiting and prove that this is a stable program that has established a firm winning tradition.
