The talking heads seem to believe that Tatum is now a possible option to land AD. I agree that the pelicans would be stupid to make a deal before July 1st.

Check out the article GeauxLouisiana posted. Last year’s revenue was leaked to the press and the Pels were in the black.
The other thing people aren’t considering is that the value of NBA teams has skyrocketed over the past decade thanks to new TV deals and the global growth of the game. Benson bought the hornets less than 10 years ago for 330 million dollars. The team is now estimated to be worth over 1 billion dollars. Even if the Pels would be losing tens of millions of dollars every year (they’re not,) the Pels are still a ridiculously good investment for Gayle.
Not to contradict the crack team of business experts on RP, but in fact the Pelicans are a profitable franchise and have been since 2013. Not only that but the value that has been created since the current owners purchased the team has increased from the original purchase price of 338M to current value of 1,000 M. They may want to sell eventually to cash in, but they ain't bleeding money.
I'm just going by statements made by the Celts over recent months, however, he is one player I'd feel good about getting. The Celtics are a nice team of guys that play their role but there are not many players I'd want to rebuild my franchise around. Tatum is one of those players I would.
If you’re looking for success and model in small markets it’s the Thunder, and San Antonio. Golden state is a team based in Oakland, but is the Bay Area team hardly a small market.
