Re: NO BASEBALL COVERAGE TONIGHT!????
Silver-lining time. It's early, so I'll still be optimistic:
Greg Harmon looked about as good as I've ever seen him. All be it against SLU, he came in and stabilized the team, stopped the bleeding (not to mention got out of a bases loaded, no out jam) and provided leadership. Gave us a chance to come back.
Fusselier, Fontenot, Bostick, Wes Smith. Remember these names because they look promising. Like someone said previously, they look hungrier than the older guys.
Scott Hawkins looked good early on, but his last 2 at bats were really lacking. The miscue on the bunt I'm still shaking my head over. (His bomb was a no doubter though ;))
I can't for the life of me figure out why no matter who we put at third, they can not make the throw across. Third base is a huge problem right now.
Thad Griffen and Matt Hicks look bad. Real bad. Matt Hicks looks completely lost everytime he steps up to the plate, and Thad Griffen does one of two things with every plate appearance: strikes out, or hits the ball really hard at somebody. Whomever was expecting "a big year" from either one of these guys; you'll be disappointed.
Wagley and Marze had good stuff, but got wild at bad times. We're still walking ppl and hitting ppl. No excuse for that.
Chalk it up as a learning experience, and move on guys.. Southern Miss awaits.

This weekend the Eagles will start:
Fri. - RHP Todd McInnis (1-0, 0.00)
Sat. - LHP Cody Schlagel (1-0, 0.00)
Sun. - RHP Scott Copeland (1-0, 1.50)
I can promise you that they are not taking the Cajun's lightly, we're expecting 10,000+ fans in attendance for the series. _
BGN, the CAJUNS better wake up quick, or the Eagles won't have much at all to worry about this weekend.
Re: NO BASEBALL COVERAGE TONIGHT!????
this is a season where it could be over before it starts....i dont think that we can compete with Southern Miss. I think that if we win one of the three games, that will be an accomplishment. Could easily have 6 in the L column before this weekend is over. CANNOT afford to continuously get out played during the middle of the week. This is a re-occuring theme these past few years and its simply not acceptable. I dont know what the answer is, but sure hope we can figure it out real soon.
Re: NO BASEBALL COVERAGE TONIGHT!????
Ok... I understand why everyone is freaking out... we all want to see an immediate improvement from last year. But, while that has not happened, I do see an improvement on the rise... trust me, this team will be hitting the ball with lots of pop the more the season rolls on. In an odd way, I expect the freshmen to pump up this team and make them contenders. Les Smith and Alex Fuselier look very promising.. jumping on the ball quickly and hitting it hard everywhere. And Hawkins looks back into form too, sure he didn't get on base with his last two at bats, but in defense of him, he did hit a line drive straight to the right fielder on one of those and the strikeout third strike, WAS NOT A STRIKE AT ALL... I was sitting directly behind the plate and saw it for myself.
So everyone just needs to chill out a little and let the team come around... I don't know what all you were expecting... but I sure as hell wasn't expecting us to be 5-0 at this point. I mean 12 hits tonight is promising... not to mention 2 home runs. Once this team gets in a groove, they will be rolling.
Anyone else agree with me? I mean if we are still losing and not pitching well by the time conference rolls around.. then I will truly be disappointed, but for now... lets just relax and not put too much pressure on them.. they will come around.
