And before you ask, got the info from a friend who spoke to him directly. Mahfouz will do the best he can, but we got a Camry when we could have had a Ferrari.

Its not the SEC or the Pac 10, but as a whole it has generally produced All Americans year in and year out. You could take every college level track athlete in the state and all put them on UL's track team and we would still struggle to win the Belt. I'm not knocking Coach Mafouz; I think he can consistantly finish in the middle of the pack in the SBC, which will be enough to satisfy the University and Athletic Administrations, though not the real fans of UL Track. I just think we should have done a better job of searching for someone who can come in and return UL to it's former position of being a top 20 finisher in the NCAA's on a fairly regular basis. I fervently hope I am proven wrong in my assessment of both Coach Mafouz' ability to recruit [ I KNOW he can coach well enough to win if he has the athletes], and in my assessment of the committment of the Administration to actual SUCCESS, rather than lip service.
