Today I see the fuzzy overspray. I hope it comes out easy.

I am pumped about the field as it is one more step to getting this program where it needs to be.
Louisiana will now have 2 turf fields with an 4" arch and 2 grass fields with an 18" arch. This will help UL to better prepare for teams with either surface and will also help with recruiting. High schools will be able to play games at Cajun Field and not mess up the field on Thursday or Friday nights thus allowing our coaches to better recruit the Acadiana area if their coaches choose to play at Cajun Field. _
OK, here is the scoop......There is nothing painted on the field. All the numbers, lines and logo's will be set in place with glue. I was there last night taking pictures and posted them here. If you look at the pictures you will see how it is done. If not than I did not do a good job. The I love you sign is done with scrap turf by one of the workers to his wife that looks at the Ragincajun.com site as most of you do. No paint on the field guys.......

Great news.... I guess... What will I talk about for the rest of the day. What a buzz kill. JJ Good News!
Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
Turbine,
The overspray that you see is not paint, it is the clippings from the white turf from the numbers after they put them down. Nothing on the field will be painted. Everything on the field is turf that has been colored by the turf manufacture. If you look at the picture of the installation you can see that the they shave the turf where the numbers go then glue down the colored turf in that spot. The same thing will be done in the endzone and middle of the field with the Logos In reference to the I Love Bri. This had to be done at night when the workers were present so I assume that it is probally one of the workers that laid down scrap pieces of turf as a message to his girlfriend. I seriously doubt that someone got down on the field and painted this while the workers were present. And since they work from 7pm to 7am im sure they were there.

It just looks like some teenager wanting to impress his girlfriend. I guess he couldn't afford a Hallmark card.

Thanks for the answer.
It raises a few questions: So the numbers are glued to the foam underlayment but the entire field is not? I ask because of the temporary wrinkles.
Also it looks like they finished/connected the Red and White corner framing, was a square cut out and inset?
Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
Turbine,
The inserts are not glued to the padding they are glued to the backing which is on top of the padding, the green fibers are shaved down to the backing and the new fibers which already has backing on it is glued down. The product is much like the carpet in a home. So if the turf ever needs to be restreched every thing will move as one piece.

I don't think the numbers are glued to the underlayment. I believe they just trim the blades of the turf down by whatever thickness the numbers are and then glue the numbers to the shortened turf. That way the resulting height of the numbers is even with the height of the overall playing surface.
Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
Hey guys, does our new field have the little rubber pellet on it?

Thanks, that was one of my theories when I looked at it up close last night.
However when I saw the fuzzy white in the pic I wrongly threw that possibility out the window.
. . . so the templates are "where to shave" templates . . . ?
