This game came down to the ground ball in the bottom 9th that a diving Kassuls nearly made a fantastic play to turn into a double play... instead he was inches away and they scored the 6th run and pushed the tying run to 3rd...
Then McKinnon's missed suicide squeeze. Wow. How do you not put the bat on the ball? He was clearly uncomfortable and just lunged for the ball. F Ugly.
I bet Stolke didn't pitch the 9th because our coaches felt good with a 3-run lead. I wonder if Stolke warmed up when we were batting in the top of the 9th (with only a 1 run lead)... Anyone know?
No words. For this. Just bad. Baseball. vs. the one of the worst teams in the league and it was a freakin' battle - vs. one of the worst in the Belt. Guess we can look forward to the App Series. That should be a good one also. We can forget about all the others. Even Little Rock is good this year. It's a shame we are so bad with the Belt being so good this year (5th rated at moment)... Belt coulda helped the RPI if we could get a decent amount of wins. Oh well.

AState has 4 pitchers with sub 3 era's. Two of them went tonight.

And let's be honest. Are we a big time program or not? You don't strike out 219 times in 25 games if you are.
Starter tonight was under 3. He finished tonight just above 3. Middle lefty is about 8. Third pitcher 2.09
The two starters left are low and upper 2's. All,other pen pitchers horrific era.
And Welsh is 10 strike outs in 6 innings good - against us. He proved it tonight

It's a long, long story.
The Long and short of it is that our administration likes to pretend our baseball program doesn't exist. They make no attempt to market games, attend games, or get donors to give to the baseball program. Mohajir likes to sneak out to the park about the 8th or 9th inning to keep up appearances because there are a few of us to care deeply. He's supposedly made a big deal about some grand 15 million dollar plan to start a softball program and build a new baseball stadium, but no one really believes him.
As such, we get to recruit to a High School quality field. Throw in this year where our top 2 hitters are both out for the year to freak injuries, and our (only) defensive outfielder is out with a strained groin, and you get the mess we have here. Our starting pitching and top half of the pen is actually pretty decent, but our bats are struggling and our defense makes the Bad News Bears look like the 27 Yankees.
The better question is what the hell happened to you guys? I knew the game was over once Robicheaux tried the suicide squeeze in the 10th. Shows he has absolutely zero confidence that your bottom of the order can get the ball in play. That and Raffo admitted postgame that we knew that play was coming that pitch.

What happened to us? We are a complete dumpster fire. Our guys fold easily and Robe cant see how his stubbornness is destroying the team. We wont win half of our games this year. Embarrassing.

2014.....#1 ranking and 1 game from World Series.....
2015.....Super Regional and Nationally Ranked.....
2016.....Host a Regional and Nationally Ranked.....
2017.....barely had winning season and knocked out of SBC Tourney in 1st game....
2018...appears that it's a massive train wreck in the making....in my opinion Robe will keep this Staff intact going into next season....no, I don't know anything specific. It's strictly a hunch.....I sure hope that I'm wrong about that.
