Yes, I love the Whistle Pig. You made a good choice with the 10 year old. Although good, I find the "Old World" ones a little gimmicky. They are finished in other barrels like Sherry. There was one, I cannot remember the name but I thought it tasted like dirt. I am starting find that I enjoy the higher rye content bourbons and rye whiskies.

A little too sweet for me, I can only drink one. If you are going to drink them, then crushed ice is a must.

Less sugar/simple syrup---more whisky

I'll hang up and listen.
Note: The last sentence has been used before but it is not trademarked and I really like it!
Bourbon slush.

That's our drink of choice when hanging out at my bar in the summer.
We normally mix it up like Pat O's. Lot of whiskey, little simple syrup.

The 12 year is 109 a bottle! Have you tried that? I really don't want to experiment at that price point

Try the Colonel Taylor Straight Rye, it's legit at around $65 at Champagnes. The 10 year WP and 12 year are about the same to me.

There are finished in three different types of wine casks: madeira, French sauternes and port. I like the port one the best and think they are all. Worth the $109 a bottle, well ultimately that will be up to you. What I usually do is find a restaurant that has it and then try it there before you buy a bottle. If you buy it in a restaurant or a bar make sure you find out which cask finish it is.
Here is a nice article that talks about the different finishes.
