Stay aggressive or get eaten.
This mindset right here needs to change. Some of yall don’t believe this but top to bottom the SBC is the strongest G5 Football Conference.
SBC
American
MW
MAC
CUSA
Again, if a PAC invitation comes, we should strongly consider it if the money makes sense.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
SMU bought the last ticket out of G5 into the ACC. The cost of their ticket to ride out of the G5 is foregoing 7 years of conference media revenues. Or maybe it was 9 years? Whichever, its a long time. Seems like if Tulane & Memphis want in the B12, they might need to offer a SMU type of deal. That's in the hands of big donors. I guess anything is possible these days.
Finally let's keep in mind as conference trailer parks go, some are more equal than others!
Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
What if we stopped talking about this nonsense? It’s never gonna happen. Our “brand” is not as big as some of the people on this message board seem to think.

Lets say it's the latter, for Louisiana that would mean forgoing and being under to the tune of $18 million over that 9 year period.
Followed by being on the overall plus side to the tune of $14 million after year 10.
$48 million overall after year 11 and so on, and so ...
Almost $200 million more in revenue after 15 years.
SMU was smart to think ahead.
Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
SBC is definitely the best G6 Football, Baseball, and Softball conference now overall. Agree the lore period
Must change. However it won’t until the SBC re negotiates a new ESPN contract. We are getting robbed by ESPN for our product.

We are fine in the SBC at this point and when the changes will begin, there will eventually be several super G5 Conferences just like what happens above in the P5. We will be more regionally aligned with one conference than the other.
As long as our Football program continues to win, MBB gets it right, Baseball and Softball remain relevant, we will be positioned just fine.
FWIW, I agree 100%.
Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
This thread…substitute UL with L A Tech or Marshall, we’d be laughing.
There is a difference between preparation and delusional.

You don't just "enter" talks with a conference when you want to. Talks have to be a two-way street.

100% true.
However, if properly handled the excitement of a new quality conference could easily generate more locally above and beyond the temporary loss.

Outside of their TV money UL's budget is larger than many of the "perceived" budgets.

Fan is short for fanatic. You stop dreaming, you start dying. Nothing big was ever accomplished by small thinking.
But yes....we should always be laughing at Tech.

Maybe you initiate talks by expressing interest and see how they respond. Have Texas State as our advocate and needed travel partner.
Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
We're not getting invited to the PAC 12.
Next thread.

Only a truly desperate conference will reach out to everyone.
Being vocal is the only way you get on the radar.
So I agree (with others) it won't happen.
Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
Louisiana surely cannot afford to forego future media revenues. Based upon the P4 expiring TV deals timeline, another big realignment shakeup is coming in the next 5-7 years, maybe a little sooner. What a ruthless business college athletics has become. American capitalism at work!

Send them the PowerPoint and watch them pick up the phone.
