I wonder if it would be possible to install a drop ceiling for basketball to make it more intimate and take out the upper level. Something that could easily be removed for concerts and larger events.
A 4K arena doesn’t work for concerts. A 12k arena for the vast majority of D1 MBB teams doesn’t work either.
The powers that were at the time wanted a multipurpose building large enough for concerts and monster trucks. And it had to be precast concrete to get the votes for it.

Filling it or not filling it doesn't change the fact that it is an old, tiny facility that I would still call a cracker box high school gym. Probably adequate for Rice given their low attendance in basketball, not to mention all sports.

Our best defensive game of the year as well as rebounding. We had a nice balance of scoring there with 6 guys in double figures. I'm a little worried about our bench though. We have too many guys playing 30+ minutes and I wonder how that could affect guys like Julien who's never been able to stay healthy and he's playing all those extended minutes. We had 7 guys with double digit minutes but Michael Thomas only played 10 so that puts the weight of minutes on all the other starters. If Kitenge gets in foul trouble we could be in trouble with lack of depth.

This is why I was hoping Hardy and Ratliff would be getting a lot more minutes in those early season non conference games. I think we need a 9 man rotation in order to not wear down over the course of the season.

Absolutely. This limited rotation will not last

I wouldn’t know what the dome looks like with 2500 fans since we haven’t had 2500 in a while.

We had more than that for all games after mid January last season. Unfortunate that it has not approached that number this season. Perhaps a good performance at Marshall will help for home conference games.
Re: Louisiana MBB vs Rice
The 5 points Hardy scored at Rice came at critical times. Ratliff seems to think too long at times which prevents him from playing instinctively.
