Re: Texas State Game time Change
Tailgating after the game is like having Dinner after the Date if you know what I mean.
The only way an 11 AM kickoff would draw a crowd would be if there is a huge concert after the game that starts at like 5 or 6. It has to lead up to something.

Re: Texas State Game time Change
To play Any name brand middle to lower tier team would be a scheduling win...Missouri, Vandy, Louisville, Army, Navy, etc...

Houston would be to me the best option for both our fans and their fans. They would bring a nice crowd to Lafayette. I think Ole Miss or Mississippi State would as well, but again they would have to be willing to come here. Mississippi State would only go to the Dome.

Houston as a new Big 12 team would be a nice and probably realistic target . It’s been a while since they’ve played in Lafayette.

USM is the rivalry we need to get butts in the seats.
It’s unfortunate for attendance that this game is a midweek but it is what it is . Gotta make the best of it

They pretty much sold out for their midweek game against us last year. I believe the university might create incentives for student participation like USM did. Maggard alluded to it without saying it.

Giving geography/location of a school too much weight. While it's somewhat important, you can't tell me 30k plus wouldn't show up for a Vandy or a Louisville...

App has sold out 3 of their 6 home games already.

I seriously doubt Vandy moves the needle for anyone. This is not baseball. Louisville has not been relevant for so long.
2022 8-5
2021 6-7
2020 4-7
2019 8-5
2018 2-10
This would not excite anyone, nor would it bring fans of those schools.

Yeap had 15k for K-State but the last time FIU was here we had 29k. There's so much variable when it comes to scheduling. Can't control when LSU plays can't control the weather and you can't control if ESPN like your matchup and moves it to a Friday.
Now there are some things that can be done. It's up the the administration if they have the want and need.

Re: Texas State Game time Change
2009 Kansas State 16,431, after the week before having 41,357.
1986 Oklahoma State 23,144
1997 Oklahoma State, Sunday after a Hurricane.
2010 Oklahoma State 25,881.

Re: Texas State Game time Change
So Lafayette is so highbrow only upper tier moves the needle? That sounds like a poor excuse for failed marketing.

Lafayette has always been a party/big event town. Not only area festival but things like jazz fest and hangout fest. People here always looking for a reason. We just been bad at giving them a reason

Re: Texas State Game time Change
Lafayette supported a hockey team in a bottom tier minor league that you couldn’t even get a betting line on. That’s not big time, but a pompous self view.

That was also 30 years ago

And? Lafayette still has a pompous self importance view that’s not shared by the rest of the world. Still everyone is entitled to do whatever they want. Just don’t blame it on non existent issues when the results are not good.

Didn't it rain bigtime at the K State game? Regardless, its a big drop off.

There is hyperbole in that statement. Yes it rained (sometimes lightly) most of the day of the K State game. However, it stopped completely a half hour before kickoff. I attended the game and did not get a drop on me. Important thing is we won the game with a last second FG.

Re: Texas State Game time Change
. . . have we become such snobs that we no longer care that we are on the field but care more about the opponent we see when we come to the field . . . that is another reason why we can’t have nice things here . . . Willing to stifle our attendance because of who is not on the field against us will keep us at a level where we can’t afford to purchase better competition, but keep protesting into the status quo . . .
