You gonna start a football stadium with $7 million in bonds? Our former AD lied to everyone and botched the project, then was forced to step down. Do people really not remember how this went down? Our great late coach didn’t deserve to have that done to the program and props to Tjoe for giving the man what he deserved. You have to have at least half the funds secured before anyone will take your project serious, the OLOL pledge of $35 million for example.

It wasn’t $65 million and the Cajundome host other things that actually make money. It actually needed certain upgrades to continue to host those events as music artist started setting venue requirements for them to play.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
We will agree to disagree, when farmer lied or whatever tjoe should have explained how we couldnt afford to take out bonds for a baseball stadium when we were gonna need to take out bonds for football stadium in a few years. All i know is we need football renovations worse than we ever needed a baseball stadium renovation or atleast to the degree we did it

And tell the guy sitting on %30 of the funds, thanks but no thanks? The problem isn’t the bonds, it was the lack of an OLOL pledge. You can’t take the next steps without it.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
First of all, you brought up how basketball renovations happended before when we actually didnt have choice
2nd, yes i would have told the 30 percent donor we cant afford it right now but if you wanna put up more money we will go forward with baseball
Thats what Lampson did

That’s why you are not a college AD or university president and we are about to build a football stadium and add on to our already nice baseball stadium. Then all of our facilities will be done. You never tell someone who is offering 30% of your cost to build no Thanks, you get off your ass and raise the other %30 and borrow the rest. The football stadium is getting done geezus.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Youre probably right, i just feel tht the football stadium shoulda been done 2 years ago. Probably wrong but one of the reasons it wasnt done was they couldn't get loans or bonds because of bonds taken out for the tigue. Again probably bs

A $65-$70 million whatever project was being held up by $7 million bonds sold 7 years ago? Come on man..come on. I would think covid and taking a bath financially would be more logical. The new park has been setting records in season tickets sales, it’s paying for itself.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Good point, i should have known that was bad info, i guess i didnt think it out
-
Re: RCAF Membership Drive
I also think/wish football should/ would have been done a long time ago, I just don’t think the baseball stadium has anything to do with why it hasn’t been done.

I don’t think anyone is blaming baseball for no football stadium remodel. They just saying scott farmer is the only AD in America to think it’s good to do softball and baseball before football.
Regarding baseball stadium funding, the original large donor had to reneg after losing around $20 million in the Stanford financial ponzi scheme fiasco.
Unrelated- A couple of years later, his O&G company went bankrupt
That set the project back a few years originally.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Wanna say the suites were planned on paying a large part of the baseball construction.

Or it is better to have one (albeit smaller) complete and finished project as the amount for softball would not have gotten the others completed if redirected

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Why can't our tier 1 research students make some of these plans, would that stretch the donation dollars farther and get the projects done quicker?
Same with marketing students, is their a grad program? With all the complaints about branding etc, give them a shot and put that money to other things

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
RCAF Membership Drive off to a rocky start with a personal story. Shared my mail-out with a friend of mine that is currently not an RCAF member or ticket holder in any sport, and was interested in premium seating for baseball. One of the $6k+ boxes.
He called the RCAF number twice yesterday, left a voicemail. Called Cajundome Box Office who forwarded him again to RCAF, left a voicemail and an email.
Tried calling again today, no response.
I'm not a typical pitch-fork forum complainer, but that is unacceptable if we're trying to grow the fanbase and make money.

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Well they work at a university, might be last chance for a few days off before school starts plus baseball is kind of far off in the future
-
Re: RCAF Membership Drive
I have never not had a response or gotten someone at RCAF when I called. I had a question about mailing parking passes and got an immediate response and made my opinion of not printing tickets while I was on the phone, the rep had a possible work around and had an answer back to me via email within 24 hours. I'm not a big donor and have always received great responses when I contact RCAF

Sad to say but that is one of the hardest things to do at this University. Trying to talk to someone to give them money. I've had similar experiences in the past. Unless you go online or drive to the ticket office, its very hard to give RCAF money. Been this way since the beginning.

Not necessarily, Ive been a member since its inception. They have charged my credit card 4 equal quarterly payments every year. It’s been very easy and smooth.

It seems that if you’re doing the same over and over not a problem, but for those who are inquiring about the process to start or increase contributions there’s a failed opportunity if you believe them.

In a lot of situations "inquiring about the process" seems frowned upon, especially by those who are "in the know" already and don't want that clique to grow

Well since by law they have to ask me every year if I want to renew I typically get a call like I did last week. They can’t just renew from year to year with out asking my permission. If I wanted to up it that would have been the time to do so. If they are ignoring new money and not returning calls heads need to roll.

Why can other businesses continue auto renewing without asking each time if they cant?

Re: RCAF Membership Drive
Whatever happened with students being counted as rcaf members either automatically or for a discounted rate, and a new grad rate, or was that just alumni assoc?
