Though it was just me also. Much rather spend the time on the course. Just thought I was getting old. LOL!
The atmosphere, rivalries, or cost of college is not attractive anymore.

Best thing we can do is to continue to win championships and make NCAA tournaments across all sports until then and Football can continue the longest win streak in D1 FBS College Football in the Nation!

Buckle up fellas.
Regionality and rivalries are what made CFB great. It also what might, MIGHT insulate the Sunbelt, to some degree, for the time being. Add ECU and a Florida school as soon as the opportunity presents itself and commit to it. Also agree that new stadiums should be smaller (like MLS style smaller) and the focus of the product moves to TV.

All good points.
How much more money do we need to start our Cajun Field Renovation?
Close in the upper deck, push most of the crowd in the lower bowl for a smaller but nicer stadium experience. I think 30K is enough.

WAY more than enough. I would say less than 25k is perfect and throw a nice awning over the seating. With that you get comfort, demand, and atmosphere.

I agree for the most part. I would have ECU on the top of my list and WKU behind them. USF would be another solid addition but ECU and USF are both eastern based schools. I guess Georgia State would move West in that scenario?

To be honest I think the kill shot for the sunbelt with brand exposure would add army and navy…. The two most historic service academies and all eyes are on them in December. Great exposure and a way to grow the brand….just and Idea, but adds much more value than ECU and USF. Also you can create a north south division….9 conference games, one game with North rival that is always locked in and a second rotating north team. Georgia schools would be in the south. Texas state should have army as their Northern locked in rival as there are a few army bases within easy driving distance of San Marcos and would draw very well for that game…. Navy could play South Al as there are a few navy installations and retirees near by to help with that draw….the ODU vs Navy would be a great match up because of proximity and Norfolk navy installation…. I think you add those to schools and you would be solidifying the top G5 league maybe push to be P5…. Just an idea, but the sun belt with this expansion has shown it wants to grow and renew old regional rivals! We can be a really fun league with this plan!

To be honest, that is brilliant.
It would be a coup

Liberty’s stadium should be the model for the G5… it is really nice and a great atmosphere… I think it only holds like 20K

Only holding 25k is small time thinking. Remember once this remodel happens it may be 50 plus years before another remodel or maybe never.

It would have been small time thinking in the mid ‘90s. Attendance is dwindling all over college football due to every game streaming in someone’s back pocket. 25K and create demand. I don’t want a 55K stadium with nothing but empty aluminum bleachers. I’m just tired of it.

The top deck should just be suites on both sides and turn both sideline seating into super comfortable chair backs with Wi-Fi, usb outlets, cupholders, and tablet screen for ordering drinks and food…also make sure the seating is covered to protect from the elements. I think it would be money well spent. Put the stadium at 35K and call it done. Amenities will win this round of putting butts in seats… I would pay money for those amenities.

I would go 30k.

Re: Conference realignment again????
Yes, Cajun Field only needs 30-35k seats with great amenities and the ability to grow if needed.
-
Re: Conference realignment again????
CajunField needs 25k seats, some standing room areas for crowd mingling and a few high dollar options to entertain national sponsors and big time events (bowl games or league champ games).
Dump a ton of money into controlling our own media, make media department & equipment a top priority, recruit top flight media students, creative department and promotional budget should be in the top 5% of G5.
That’s the model.

AGREED! I graduated from the school in broadcast journalism and back then I was asking why are we not in house producing our own content with the students…we just need an equipment investment, but unfortunately cameras and production equipment are very expensive…Also the students need to take over the on campus radio station!

Those snoots would never allow that. But it should be more reflective of campus life and run by students. Maybe not 100% of the time but at very least, half of the time.

I personally don’t want more than 25k with great amenities. I would love a outdoor bar with great site lines to the field, upper deck all suites and high end seating, and top flight concession area.

The best way to get Lafayette people to show up to an event? Tell them they can’t come.
25k seats does that
-
Re: Conference realignment again????
Yep on no more than 25K seats, really nice, with overflow capacity on the grass (ONLY when needed). Create demand.
