Great sweep for the Cajuns! Take over first place and let's hope never relinquish it. Perfect start to a tough swing of road games.

As tough as that game was at times, the Cajuns showed signs of maturity. In the 7th, I kept thinking of McNeese. Letting the game get away from you. But they held on for a massive sweep.
At this point you know what this team is. They can hit, they’re quick to mix up pitching, defense can be inconsistent at times, they’ll never stop being aggressive running the bases even if it’s to a fault.
They’re winning. What was maybe a questionable at large team may have put themselves into consideration for the top 25 again. Well done.

Very good synopsis.

Re: SB G2, G3 vs South Alabama. WIN, WIN
It may be possible to get back in to the top 25 in one or more polls, but I doubt we can reach top 25 in RPI. Our remaining SOS is good, but I don't think it will be good enough to improve our RPI by 12 or more spots from our current 37.
Here is a synopsis of the remaining schedule:
1 game vs St. Louis [RPI 147]
2 games vs Illinois [RPI 33]
1 game vs Indiana [RPI 57]
1 game vs Houston [RPI 79]
1 game vs aTm CC [RPI 189]
3 games vs App State [RPI 148]
3 games vs Costal [RPI 159]
3 games vs ULM [RPI 128]
Our oppoonents vs RPI 1-50
St. Louis 0-4
Illinois 10-11
Indiana 2-9
Houston 2-7
aTm CC 0-4
App State 0-2
Coastal 0-3
ULM 0-2
Our Record vs RPI
1-50: 4-6
51-100: 8-2
101-200: 8-1
If everything goes chalk we would be 14-1 in our remaining 15 games and 41-11 overall. Depending on how much P5 bias there is, that might get us an at large bid if we don't win the conference. I expect us to be a 3 seed in either Fayetteville or Tuscaloosa. I don't think the evil empire or Texas will host; if either does, that is where we will be.

Lsu will not host. I could see us in Austin, with McNeese and Texas A&M. There is still a lot of softball left to play. If the season ended today these are the teams that would host.
Host teams:
Alabama
Arizona State
Arkansas
Clemson
Duke
Florida
Florida State
Kentucky
Northwestern
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Tennessee
Texas
UCF
UCLA
Virginia Tech
Next 4 in line to host:
Georgia
Notre Dame
Oregon
Washington

According to NCAA website, this game is scheduled on April 25. We are better off if you are right. lol

Texas may not host either. They still have 1 left with OU, and 3 each with OkST, Baylor and TTU, and an OOC with Houston. They could easily go 5-6 with that schedule and possibly drop out of the top 16. By current RPI, the next 4 are Georgia, Oregon, Washington and LSU.

I was going by the schedule on the NCAA website. I did not check our website.

If they go 5-6 those teams have high enough rpi to keep them in the top 16 to host. I am 100% sure they will host if they go 5-6 in those games. I think they will win 8 of those games personally.

Texas is only 0.0068 ahead of Georgia as of today. That may or may not be enough cushion.

Is that your math or Maggards math?

NCAA math. I am not sure how good that is, and it does not include yesterday's games.
-
Re: SB G2, G3 vs South Alabama. WIN, WIN
We should get a decent boost from sweeping South Al; but we are .0095 out of 30th by NCAA math. We are .0146 out of 25th.
Just for fun, we are .0486 out of 16th. I am pretty sure that is unattainable.

Re: SB G2, G3 vs South Alabama. WIN, WIN
Games of interest today for RPI purposes if only considering our RPI:
Teams we prefer to win marked with asterisk.
Houston* vs Wichita State
Texas* vs Oklahoma
Portland State* vs Southern Utah
Illinois* vs Rutgers
Indiana* vs Penn State
Louisiana Tech vs North Texas*
LSU* vs South Carolina
Mississippi State vs Alabama*
Omaha vs St. Thomas*
Dayton vs St. Louis*

I hope you're right about A&M BR not hosting. But I wouldn't put it past the committee considering their love affair with the SEC, and how they've been controlled by them in the past.

This is who would host as of today. Things can and will change over the next few weeks.
-
Re: SB G2, G3 vs South Alabama. WIN, WIN
I get it due to missed games, South Alabama was ahead of the Cajuns more so to missed games than being an elite team. But we did what we needed to do. Based on them hosting the conference tournament, probably will have to beat them again along the way.
They’re a team that hangs around .500. Respect the opposition, but far from deserving accolades.

There is always room for a .500 sec team with a 3-18 conference record. Looking at you this year, South Carolina.
