Got to shoot better than in the 30s. I have no problem saying this team can beat Georgia most nights.
Harhambay for Uga is killing us.
We got man handled down low tonight. Couldn't make buckets or get boards. I want to see how these guys rebound at UNO.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Yes their big man was the man, but we cut it to 2 then lost intensity and went brick city in a hurry. Honestly feel we gave this one away, one that would have looked good on the March resume.
I thought Ryan Banowicz did a fine job broadcasting the game.
Yea our game plan sucked tonight. Obviously it was get to the rim, and we were able to get there and put a block on a silver platter for the Urga guys. The last 8 games was find the open man and tonight I didn't see too many extra passes. I think when we got down to many players tried to do too much by themselves.
Learn from it, move on, and skull drag UNO Saturday.
Welcome to college basketball cajuns....don't worry you scheduled UNO next...another high school win is waiting.....Georgia isn't a tournament team and may not finish at .500 on the season....Fat frank miller is a plug who refuses to go inside cause he can't get but 3 inches off the floor and is so out of shape it is funny....good thing you play in the SUN WORST....a one bid league....
------Bryce has gotten into a habit of traveling and his FTs have been bad since the season start----Might have armed Miller with another very effective weapon in the 3 pt shot-----So frustrating getting the layups rejected along with our shorter guys inside and their shots----please play Handy more----think we are playing very hard on the defensive end----need for the 2 big guys to have some presence off the bench, at least on the rebounding/defensive end!!!
This game will be a learning experience. Sometimes a loss can help a team more than a big win. They should realize they could have beat Georgia and how. I still like this team a lot going forward.
Gotta look at the bright side guys. Last time this team lost they went on an 8 game win streak. If they drop 2 then win 8 we would be in pretty good shape. That would put us at what, 25 and 6? I'll take that .
BLOCK OUT. Gave up 5-6 easy put backs when all we were doing was looking at the ball. Jeez.
I would have liked to see us go to the basket stronger, when they are swatting everything you put up you have to go up strong and try to draw some fouls..not underhand layup soft toss volleyball setup.
This right here. This team has what it takes. This group will be good enough to win an NCAA game in march.
The refs were absolutely bias. Very blatant. There were at least 3 calls on Stove that were total BS. Our guys were fouled all game long in the post. Several over the back calls that were missed (purposely).
For everyone saying our game plan was bad, I question how much you've watched this team play. Getting to the rim is how we win.
All that said, we have to make free throws. We will live at the line all year. Must make those trips count.
Georgia played man to man all night daring us to drive to the basket for their big men to swat it. We obliged them all night. Our drivers should have started looking for the kick out jumper more often then keeping it for the lay up.
Making the extra pass to the open man is how we've been winning. We get to the basket and dish it to a cutter. If you look at what everyone was so impressed with on the streak was our big men's ability to pass. How many assists did Bryce or miller have tonight?
Yeah it seemed the guys were charged up for the game and everyone wanted to put the team on their back not realizing they have been so good because they have worked well together. At the same time we haven't faced defensive monster forwards like that yet. The adjustment was never really made. Hopefully they learn from it and adjust offensively when that is what we are facing.
A big positive, our defense is solid and we are really good at causing turnovers.
We shot 74% from the line which is above average. However, in the game we were in we needed to be around 90. MAT is right in that our team philosophy is to take it to the rim. We could not finish tonight but much of that was due to being fouled and not getting the call. Still, Jay and Frank had some open perimeter shots and they just had an off night. Game was lost in the first five minutes when we went 1 for 10. As usual, the team played hard the whole game but spent too much energy getting back into it. Little was left for the final minutes. I will say that Georgia did play very well defensively. They did get away with a few fouls but many of those blocked shots were not fouls. I give the Bulldogs credit for doing what they needed to do to win. We need to play better to win on Saturday. Hopefully there will be lots of Cajun fans there to help them get energized.
Washington had 18 rebounds. Bartley had 11. We were only outrebounded 46-40. We shot 73% from the line. We did not lose on the boards or at the line. We lost shooting. Some was just misses, some was forcing up shots, some was the fact that Georgia's bigs are good, plus SEC officials were not calling any fouls against Georgia for body contact fouls when they were blocking shots. I lost count of how many times we reached the rim, only to be knocked to the floor on a missed layup or blocked shot, with no foul being called.
We got nothing from Wright tonight, Stove was ineffective, and we got little from the bench. Miller scored well but did not shoot well and still has problems rebounding.
That being said, we should have changed tactics as soon as we knew that we were not going to score by getting to the rim.
But in less than 10 minutes, it was clear that winning this way wasn't going to happen tonight. No adjustment was made. Not going up stronger. Not shooting outside. Not slowing it down. Nothing.
Hey that's our style win or lose is how swac teams try to run with #1 seeds and hang their hats on staying close for 10 minutes.
We didn't even stay close for 10 minutes.
Proud of the effort, though. This team is fun to watch and can make some noise for sure.
Going to be a fun ride.
