Count me amongst those looking forward to a LTU ULM matchup. Your guys gambled and lost big time. Our conference woes were due largely to things out of our control (although not all). LTU staying home is 1000% on the decision maker's shoulders. LTU did not put itself in a position to get much sympathy.
For our friends in Ruston.

Idiots
The Techies are taking plenty of heat. I love the spin control by some fans.

Bluedog,
Most of the Tech posters on here are respectful, yourself included, and I appreciate that.
In 2008, La. Tech forcefully kept Louisiana from a bowl appearance. Tyrell Fenroy set NCAA records, and never got a chance to play in a bowl game. The I-Bowl staged N. Illinois vs. La. Tech, with Louisiana tax dollars propping up the debt-ridden bowl, instead of filling the seats with bowl-straving Cajuns fans.
This year, they tried to do the same, stiff-arming the I-Bowl by stating they weren't coming if the I-Bowl invited ULM. The I-Bowl did what was in the state and bowl's best interests instead of letting Tech dictate to them.
With all due respect, it's about time Tech realized who they are: a mid-major trying to find a solid place in the world... Just like ULM. Just like Louisiana.
Pride kept Tech out of that bowl game. And no blowout to ULM could've caused this much embarrassment to your university. Some of us are happy Tech finally found out, that they're not Big 12. Iowa St is. They're 6-6, and they're playing in the bowl you hoped for.
Because like us, you're "small time" trying to be "big time."
When you're ready to realize that, let's talk. Until then, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch of arrogant fools.
What a shame for those seniors, the whole team...coaches...parents who invested so much into their children....for the arrogance of big-headed fools to cost them everything they worked all season for. It says a lot about the folks running your athletic program. It should taste bitter. 2008 tasted bitter. It's your turn...that's all.
You reap what you sow.
"When I ready to realize what?!?" Like I said, thx for the middle finger boys. Classy
Makes sense. They should have kept their mouthes closed. LOL! I'd bet Benson was like "I got you now b***h!"
This is a really messed up situation. This was Techs best season since they went Division 1 in '89. As an Alum & fan I'm beyond ____ed that the decision makers could let this happen. I feel horrible for the players most of all.
I due find it interesting, to say the least that the Tech posters on RP were extremely sympathetic to your conference woes earlier this week...and now most of you are being truly classless back to us. Thx
Bunch of arrogant clowns.
Sometimes the stupidity and arrogance of some folks knows no bounds. Their A.D. and President should be s---canned.
Ohio to I-Bowl
This is correct, I spoke to my friend that works for the belt office. And he basically said..."they better beat Ark st."
Nose, say goodbye to face.
Sorry about your team and all, but tech burned their bridge with us and the entire sun belt when Dooley used his infamous "no sun belt schools" hogwash. Your administration had the opportunity to make loads of money that would have benefited both tech and ulm, as well as the state itself. But oh no. We are too good to play ulm. Well, look where it got y'all....a front row seat on your couch this bowl season.
As much as I dislike Tech, I feel for their players and (most) of their fans.
I had the pleasure and honor to know a former player for Tech by the name of John Fisher. He married my Aunt, and he was one hell of a man. He passed away several years ago from cancer, and I know he would have loved to see Tech play in a bowl game.
God bless you Mr. Fisher. Sorry your Dawgs didn't make the bowl.
It would be different if you truly "got snubbed". But your arrogant azz-clown AD Effed things up for those seniors by TURNING DOWN A BOWL OFFER.
I have said before that most tech posters on this board are friendly, insightful and logical.....but seriously .... Too good to play Monroe??? You HAVE to see the humorous irony from our perspective. I'm confident that all but a handful here feel horrible for he players, it's the admin I am laughing at.

NBA legend Karl Malone ripped his alma mater on Twitter.
"I am Bulldog to the core, I am heart broken and embarrassed that our university would do this to Tech Nation. To our football and staff this ... is exactly what is wrong with our university. Now it's time to get former athletes to run our program. I'm (6-foot-9) and not hard to find," Malone wrote.
Malone demanded to know the reason behind turning down the Independence Bowl and called for a change in leadership.
"Wouldn't it be nice to hire a person doing it for university, and not somebody doing it for a bigger and better job in their mind?" he wrote.
"To Bleed tech Blue, you got to be Tech."
