It is no secret around the complex either. The MBB program is being held hostage by a select few who pay the bills. And not a single one of them actually care about the program. It's all about being friends with the coach, riding on the plane to the away games, having access to the team and information, eating chicken wings at the Marlin pool party and playing patty-cake in the stands while the rest of us watch the games.
Who is the current president of the rebounders club?

I am serious. This program has become a joke under Bob's way too long tenure. No one cares anymore. So why not continue the joke.

I agree that donors need to be on friendly terms with coaches, not close friends.
Close friends? You mean like our local media?

Saddest part is there is so little caring about men's basketball that virtually no one knows we lost..

That was always worst case scenario. As if they didn't learn their lesson last year... A Lou Henson Award winner on the team and SBC favorite. It took the Cajun Chicken to get people to the dome.. A damn shame. I sure do miss it.

A way to fix all of this besides on the court is to attempt to create excitement to draw people to the games. Start the 2 for 1 with bigger teams rather than scheduling a bunch of no-name schools. Start cultivating the local youth programs to introduce the local kids to our basketball program. Get our coach to start shaking hands in the area and make local appearances. Right now, in spite of the NCAA Tournament appearance, everything is stale. Same group of fans, same “vibe,” same scheduling, same expectations.
Time to shake things up.

The only way to shake ____ up is regime change. And I'm not just talking the HC. New blood from top to bottom. Why did the big money people in MBB stop supporting Football like they did prior to Bustle? Oh, its because Hud cut that crap out. Napier continued it. There is no way you can run a successful program of any kind when the boosters have more sway than the AD.

We do have the first ranked team coming to The Cajun Dome on Jan4th vs JMU. Doesn’t get any bigger than that. I just have no confidence we will even compete. I hope I am wrong. My family of 4 will be there.

Well, boosters pay the bills. The way you make the changes you talk about is changing expectations and not accepting 8th place conference finishes. That is one issue that we have had within the program which have been the excuses to mediocrity and making it personal because of certain relationships with a coach. I will say we need to quit treating it like a high school booster club and start cultivating new people. The way to cultivate new people is to start creating expectations and standards and not strictly social aspects.

I had no idea the Cajuns were playing Tech. But, the truth is, I don't watch much college basketball. It's interesting to note, the best college basketball player in the country is a woman.
